I should have been clearer. All manufacturers in general. I was referencing my earlier post that there was ‘hundreds’ of cars stored there, not just Holdens.

There is another large facility at Campbelltown that also has thousands stored there.
I guess if cars are not selling they have to store them somewhere.

just drove past my local holden stealer.
half the yard are new kia's , 1/4 new mitsubishi's and a few used cars
i didn't see any new holdens from the street
i would have assumed they would get them out of storage and put them all onsite to get rid of them
maybe they don't have any left?

Some dealers want to clear them out as soon as possible, others are trying to hold onto stock, to keep the dealership going for a few more months until other arrangements can be sorted.

Pretty clear which dealers will be giving the fire sale prices, and which ones won't.

We picked up our RG Colorado today and honestly, what a piece of crap these things are

The vibrations from the engine, the stereo sucks, the steering lock to lock requires a lot of turns makes parking requiring a few more turns of the wheel than normal and it drives like a 1985 Toyota Dyna with a bit more balls.

This responsibility is solely with me because I was responsible for the choice of vehicle, but I've never been impressed with the Thailand specials.

We shoulda spent $10K more and got the new 3.5L V6 Hiace van

Seriously though it gives us capability to put two pallets on the back of it which is nice, has a 1400kg load capacity and its easier to load than a van.

We need you to do drive reviews "Tell em 'Cozzo sent ya !"

Can you start with the Chinese versions (that will likely take the holden distribution network) as I'm not sure whether they make the Colorado look good/great/rubbish. I think it dpends on whom they have copied?

FWIW when I look at small group at work, the Colorado (2 off) has been more reliable than the 2 ford equivalents (although one Ranger driver is a 99 percentile type of person- flogs em) One guy just got a F-Lemon,

I think when I'm done with my Australian engineered and built Ford, I'll be camp Toyota, Kia or Hyundai, but thats a while away, I'm only at 126k km.

I'll get some more time behind the wheel in the coming weeks, we had two pallets on the back of it yesterday and the guy who drives it loves it - but he drives like Grandma on her way to Bingo

You realise what you miss when a cab chassis Falcon had similar capabilities but a much better drive, something based on a car rather than a light truck but still with a circa 1000kg payload.

If you guys are having issues with drivers why not introduce some policies and rules.
The 2 major logistics outfits in Au one of whom I work for have lots of employees driving light vehicles including me.
Get a speed ticket to +_7km over speed limit -written warnings.
Get 3 written warnings over unlimited time period -get fired.
Get a speed ticket 8 km (maybe its 15)over speed limit instant dismissal.

Don't like the policies -find another employer.

As a company driver these policies have made me adopt a very light foot on the accelerator.

Also all vehicles have gps trackers which are monitored. You can also be given warnings/fired for violations picked up by tracker.

I can lend you my Dyna, ha ha. Armstrong steering will have you heading back for the Crapolorado. She eats two pallets though, what else do you want on it as well?

Cars that don't have drum brakes on the back and drives like a car rather than a 1970s F100 except without the balls

Thailand specials are like the 50cc scooter of the commercial vehicle world, I can feel the wind on my vagina with it's pathetic HVAC system that's like an ex smoker in palliative care blowing on me through a straw.

For a car with a list price of $40K, I'd expect a decent stereo, it doesn't even have inbuilt GPS or DAB+

If it wasn't for ridiculous tax incentives during the last 10 or 15 years, they wouldn't have become this popular.

Last time I looked it was 2020 not 1985, though it does add capabilities we didn't have prior from a business perspective, it's already saved a few hundred bucks in freight charges.

Personally as someone who takes interest in cars and immerses themselves in the industry, I wouldn't own a Thailand special, its the automotive equivalent of cutlery, it's like a no frills steak knife, it comes in handy but I've also got a full set of teeth and I can slap her between two slices of ciabatta.

I've got the choice of taking a Hyundai IX35 or a VF SV6 Wagon if I have to head out of my office, the Colorado is the last pick with my three options.

That's funny. I was offered the choice of a Hyundai IX35* or the door.

Is the white wagon in the pool now?

Is the Hyundai still there?

People apparently have been buying discounted Holden's, but the transactions are being invoiced in March for the discount to take effect.

March sales figures should be strong when released.

It's probably been mentioned before but I just saw a Holden ad and noticed the 7 year warranty has shrunk to 5.
Apologies if I have doubled up.

It was $31.5K DA for single cab RG Colorado 4x4 with heavy duty tray option.

List was $40K but who pays list price, I'm dubious on the discount.

The only other option we had in that price range was the Hilux Workmate with 2.7L 4 cylinder engine.

We generally deliver up to 25kg cartons and smaller goods - now we'll have pallets moving about though because we've got the capability to do so.

For normal type courier work I agree with Nuthin' Fancy - Thailand specials suck to drive compared to cars.

If you think the Colorado is bad the Hilux 2.7 is 1000 times worse.

You could've got a 4x2 Dmax for that Coin.. be better vehicle than the Colorado (In My opinion)..

Aren't they both the same sans engine?

Anyway we had 900kg on the back of it today across two pallets, its still vibratey at idle and on the highway, you feel it through the seats, but it smoothed out the ride a bit, it moves along alright with weight on it. The engine is real clattery, you can hear it clattering away getting away from the lights or sitting idle, it sucks from an NVH perspective.

Its doing 9.8L/100km mostly unloaded or with a light load, average speed is 38km/h.

Long story short you can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter, and thats exactly what a 2020 RG Colorado is, its a steak knife with a varnished handle.

Had it loaded up today with three skids, some time behind the wheel with weight on it and empty.

You can notice the weight on it with the brakes obviously, you need a bit more pedal to pull it up but it still moves along nicely.

Something I don't like about it is the way the throttle is mapped, it's like if you just use light throttle from a dead stop at the lights, it barely responds but if you give it a bit more pedal it starts hustling off the mark quite nicely, it's not turbo lag it's the way it's mapped which is a bit annoying.

Had a lot more time with the stereo, Bluetooth functionality is good and the stereo isn't bad once you get the volumes up to around 50-75% maximum volume, it's got a fair bit of bass.

I seemed to be averaging around 7.5L/100km across 30km or so with my driving style, mostly highway at 100km/h with a few kilometres of suburban stop start either side.

NVH sorta sucks you can notice the bonnet shaking at idle and you still feel those vibrations through the seat at idle at the lights.
