Talking of people with no respect my car was egged last night on the way home from seeing some mates : it hit the front of the bonnet and top of the grill, spreading egg all over the radiator support, into and through the air intake, bonnet latch and the underneath the front of the bonnet. Took me and the missus 1.5 hours to clean the #%^&. I tell you now though these older drunk guys will get whats coming to em!!!! : It was freaking guys in their 30's!!! :togo: I would maybe expect this from 6yo son but not from these sort of people : : : The cops can't do anything because I cant prove they threw the egg even though its all over the road in front of their house : : : :

Two cars in my neighbourhod have been hit with white house paint in the last week.

I drove past a white Astra last weekend, and had to look twice to figure out why the windscreen and all the windows were the same white as the car.
Then I noticed all the paint splatter on the ground and over the headlights.
(It had been advertised for sale at the time)

Then yesterday driving along just around the corner from that one, I saw another white paint splatter outline on the road in the shape of a car.

Some idoit hit the front of the AU and left a hole in the front bumper. I think it happened at St Kilda Beach Underground Car Park. Very hot day and the Car Parks were full so went to the 2nd floor and found one on the end and reversed parked it. The thing is with where i parked it, when people come and look for a car park and turn right it's a dead end and people have to reverse out and i think someone had a tow bar and reversed out hitting the bumper and left a huge hole with paint peeling off.

Motorists have a lot more personal space in America where roads and parking spaces are consideraly larger. I think this whole topic is really about personal space.

In Australia we need lots more!

I stand corrected.
Although I doubt anyone will dispute that American roads allow for more breathing space.

i always think, park next to a car that has just as much value as yours or is worth the same etc etc. then you got a less chance of that nice car owner hitting yours or theirs.

About $300, it's a shame when you have to fork out your own cash for someone else's stupidity!

I have no option where I work but to park in a shopping center carpark. I get there early so I have a big choice of parks. Having receiving my first couple of door scratches I started parking in a end spot, the spot I chose has a gap next to it and then a concrete wall on the other side. Also has a metal bollard to stop people parking there and damaging the wall. I come out of work one day and some dimwit has managed to squeeze their hatchback between the bollard and my car. They had about 2cm on the passenger side due to the wall and the gap between their door and mine was about 8-10cm, new scratch for my tally. Even opening the door into mine I have no idea how they physically got out. Thought it was just a freak moron but happened another 2 times with different cars. I'm over it and have pretty much given up and just park wherever now, I'm up to 5 on the passenger side 2 on the drivers and a chip out of drivers door handle paint that stands out like dogs balls. Mines a trayback ute too so there's only half a car to damage, can only imagine if I had a sedan or styleside.

my car got dented at the shopping centre last week....not sure if it was by a car since the drivers side door mirror had managed to fold itself in which leads me to think somebody managed to hit the mirror with their body while hitting the car with a trolley....only got the car in November and i have been treating it like a child, absolutely devastated when i saw the damage

somehow they have managed to put a crease in the bodywork and damaged the paint as well :

how can people be so careless? at least some of you guys caught the culprit, i have no idea who did it

bottom line is...some ppl dont respect other ppls property or if they do, they are jealous...im pretty sure there is an alarm system that has sensors on the doors, to warn ppl that they are too close...like as soon as someone gets close to it, the system lets out a few chirps and then goes off if the person doesnt back off....or you could always invest in a secondhand bomb :Up_to_som

Here's another 2 stories of "other" types of morons.

Last week a few youths slashed up to a dozen car tyres in Prahran, which proves nothing and it's not uncommon either. The other story is an idiot who owned an old POS Toyota Tipper which dumped all of it's sump oil in a cafe driveway, but when the cafe staff came out to talk about it, the bloke fobbed them off, jumped in a waiting car and disappeared, leaving the Tipper truck behind.

Got a dent on the bonnet from a car park dont know how looks like something was thrown at it couple of millimetres deep and right in the middle of the bracing so it cant be rolled out very noticeable on neo paint .
If you dont see who did it you cant do anything about it dont think about it it only causes yourself pain

1) Some moron in a piece of junk will park 3 inches from you and open their door into you
2) A different moron and his 67 mates will park next to you a cover your car with dirt, fingerprints, cigarette butts and drool
3) If there is one way traffic a moron in a 4wd will park on the oncoming side and have the back of his vehicle sticking out so there is no chance whatsover of you seeing oncoming traffic
4) If there is driveway going to a busy road a moron in a 4wd will always park in the road space closest to driveway so as to block any view of oncoming traffic.
5) within a week of buying a car bra as you're planning some long distance driving your front bar will be hit not once, but twice.
6) If you have to get something from a shop and are sitting in the drivers seat with the aircon on within 2 minutes a car full of obese women will pull up beside you 2 will leave from the side parked next to your car simultaneously hitting your car .

Got another dent story with a happy ending.

Had my car booked in at a Ultratune at Whitfords shopping centre. It was parked in one of the bays directly out the front reserved for Ultratune. Left my car and got the call my car was ready at the end of the day.
I rocked up and said "hows the car?" They said good news and bad news. I thought $%#^ how much is this going to cost me. They said good news is the service was standard and the car is mechanically excellent (EF Falcon sedan). The bad news was someone reversed into the front of my car before it got taken into the garage.
The mechanic saw the whole thing. He saw the other car hit my car have a quick look making sure no one saw then sped off up the carpark isle. The mechanic ran out and wrote down his rego. Just before he got to far the culprit saw the mechanic do this and had the sense to come back and give his details to the mechanic which was passed onto me.

Next working day I rang this guys number and it went something like this

"g'day is this (culprits name)?"
"Who is this?" In an arragant tone as if upset by me asking him who he was.
"This is the guy whos car you hit and tried to drive away from."
"ohhh sorry I was going to leave a note"
"No you weren't. You were caught and you got the guilts"
From then on he was stuttering nervously and asking if he could pay for the damage privately. I got all his details his insurance etc. He wanted to do it privately because he would lose his no claim and possibly have his insurance cancelled.
I said yeah no worries we can do it privately.
I then proceeded to find the most expensive quote and then went through insurance. It didn't cost me a cent.

Sucked in I say.

Lets all launch a class action suit for damages caused in carparks (levelled at carpark owner being responsible for spaces too small), if the charges stick watch all the parking spaces get wider instantly : I think this will resolve alot of door dent issues. Clearly all someone has to do is read this thread, soon see that most are door dents in carparks. Has been a pet peeve of mine for quite some time - make the spots narrower and narrower and slam them in off narrow roads making it very hard to maneuver your car in/out. For what an extra 5 spots or something stupid : : :

Respect needs to be instilled from a very young age.

I just spent 5 weeks in Sth Korea... No graffiti, spotlessly clean and unmarked trains, taxi and bus drivers who wear a suit and tie and will never watch a passenger try and handle their own heavy bags.

I arrive this morning... I get the train only to read the dozens of messages left etched in the glass and walls by others.. I watch 3 security guards march some tool of the train because he thought he was one of the elite many who think public transport should not be paid for.

It has nothing to do with personal space. Koreans practically live in each other's pockets...

I don't know what the answer is, but the solution will be tougher to implement the longer we leave it.

What a p i t a!!

I have a habit of writing down regos or taking photos of the cars beside me ever since having damage done to a car at a shopping center.

I will ALWAYS park in the most remote spot I can find in a carpark, but almost everytime I find someone just has to park right next to my car.

it is amazing isn't it. when the coupe was an everyday car, i would park as far away from everyone as possible - and someone would go to a great deal of trouble to park next to it, instead of choosing one of the other 50 that were closer
