Looking at the photo of the red XR8, it just looks like they've used a 'stock' shot from a press release. The give away is the angle at which the photo was taken (high up front three-quarter) and that the car doesn't appear to be moving.

In any case - can't wait for the Coyote, supercharged or otherwise to hit the streets.

File photo from a previous test?
If it is the real photo, it's a false alarm.

The plate is XFG016:
Vehicle Registration: XFG016
VIN/Chassis Number: 6FPAAAJGSW8R51008
Engine Number: FPVHS197675
Vehicle Make: FORD
Vehicle Colour: RED
Body Type: SEDAN
Year of Manufacture: 2008
'SW' indicates it's an XR8, '8R' says built in Feb 2008 - one of the first.

Would they really experiment with a new engine in an old and potentially thrashed JOB #1 vehicle that the media have had their hands on?

I doubt it's anything but an XR8. Infact, here it is being reviewed last year: http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/Ar...rticleID=51247

Further, it no longer sports the brass tag/circle. Ford dispose of all cars within 12 months so my bet is someone has just bought it from the auctions and perhaps modded it to their liking.

Plenty of first FGs that Ford registered with XFG plates have appeared on carsales, etc, being resold by dealers.

If it's a file photo then there's nothing to disprove the claim and we can only rely on the word of the spy.

Could be 2 reasons.

1- They didn't actually get a pic of the car they thought they saw and heard so they just used an old pic to seem like they did

or

2- They never actually saw the car but had some info from an insider, so they made the sighting story up to back up their claim, and needed to use an old photo to help support their story
