Yes with more stringent emission requirements, and all done with better fuel economy...

Any car that can reach 100kph in around 5 secs is quick.
Especially when compared to most of the vehicles on the road. I think the Stinger could sell quite well. I'm guessing Mustang sales numbers or just above.

Nothing against the G70 looks to be a great car, but its slightly smaller & lighter than the Stinger, with the same power plant options this would equate to being slightly quicker?
It has a more Luxury target though so I imagine a softer setup and higher price tag.

"The Stinger is a five-door touring sedan with a hatch, while the G70 is a pure sports sedan." Sure it may be priced higher but may be worth the extra coin as it sounds to be better sorted and proportioned with better performance out of the box.

Hyundai have said they will never do an N performance version of a Genisus, as it's a luxury vehicle. So I would say it will be set up much differently to a Stinger.

How so. The G70 will be smaller , lighter and have a higher tune on the twin turbo V6 than the Stinger. It may be aimed at the "higher end" of the market but that doesn't make it less of a sports car ? G80 and G90 will be the bigger platform Luxo barges. Stinger may have more vents and shinier wheels.....

Lets not forget that KIA have already stated there is a hotter version of the Stinger in the works.
How surreal that soon there will be people bragging that their Hyundai is faster than a KIA and vice versa, almost leading to a Falcon / Commodore style rivalry. Very different times ahead.

Kia cars are tuned to be stiffer and taut with a sportier feel. Hyundai are on the other end and more plush/focused on comfort in their ride and handling. Its in their brief, its in their DNA. Pro_Ceed GT vs Veloster Optima GT vs Sonata Turbo Sportage vs Tucson Sorento vs Santa Fe Cerato vs i30 This will be no different for Stinger vs G70 The fact that Genesis is a Luxury Brand means the comfort/plush focus would be even greater.. Hyundai's N division is apparently a different story......Lets see how they go with the i30. No localisations of these as its Biermanns baby But as said - they will never do an N division of Genesis cars Last edited by Hawkeye84; 29-06-2017 at 10:52 PM. |

Different briefs when it comes to design and tuning of their cars. Kia globally is the fun, sporty and youthful company Hyundai globally (the biger sister) is the more mature of the brand |

Kind of but the parent company doesn't dictate how hey need to be different. They consider themselves direct competitors, though will share chassis and power trains. They have their own R&D, marketing, and factories.

Still have the 300 SRT (for how long I don't know) and the MY17 Grand Cherokee SRT.. They have also green lit the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (thing Grand Cherokee with 500+kw Hellcat motor) to come to Australia...

I doubt I would buy one but I will be interested to see what tuning companies offer - there is a lot of potential there.
I think they will be the modern day Supra, 6 cylinders, 2 turbos, RWD and a sleek body. |

Question of how much over engineering was performed on the engine, Koreans aren't known for overengineering their products..

Agreed , paper specs look good and power is no issue with turbo charging (this apparently runs 18psi) . They will sell a few initially and then we will see how good they are long term.

Long term? good point
whilst the JD Powers 2017 initial quality study (90 days) has Kia #1 two years running, Longer term the JD powers reliability study has Kia not up the pointy end. 10 of the 18 categories for long term dependability were taken by lexus and toyota. JD powers are pretty much the go to reference for automotive reliability benchmarking in the states, |

There is a reason why Kia no longer do commercial vehicles.....And it's all about politics within the Hyundai Motor Group. This is one of many decisions that dictate how they need to be different. In terms of R&D, the two brands share teams who work on the chassis, drive trains and ride and handling....design they have separate teams that are not shared (although the share facilities) same with marketing (but only within the last 15 years or so). They do have separate factories, but the major ones are shared facilities.
