Ford security must be doing a great job if people are taking photos from the Proving Ground. Highly unlikely they would be doing this deliberately this early in the program.

[QUOTE=Road_Warrior]Something else I have just noticed about that front end pic, is something on the bonnet, near the grille. I'm not sure whether its just a flap of the car bra or whether its something else, but they look like vents.

I noticed that too. Dont know if they are vents or just those little flappy things that you get on the tops of car bras.

I reckon that car there is an XR6 turbo. Has a relatively deep front bumper and big gaping cutout in the middle, with possibly a silver painted 'cooler in view. Also with rims and rear spoiler its hardly an XT or a Fairmont. Then again they could have just chucked on any old parts seeing as its a test mule.
Just noticed that. Have not seen the XR's yet.

Yes it looks like it could be, its definantly an XR i recon, with that ride hight, and deep bar...i think they are some sorta vent as well

The good thing about the VE was that the Falcon and the Commodore finally looked different enough again. Like back in the AU days, only in a good way. The Orion looks like its set to change that...

just looking at the rear end shots...is it me or does this car seem to have a deeper boot opening, similar to commonwhore?

the tail lights look taller and the top of the bumper seems lower, with the top edge running up to meet the lights like on VE?

One thing that is certainly clear to me, from looking at the pic of the XR again, is that the indicator repeaters are in the same place as they are on the current model (NOT on the mirrors).

Hopefully the Fairmont and FPV's will have the repeaters in the mirrors.

As others have said, it's hard to tell if it's a spec model or not. The mirrors could just be prototype fittings not for production, but who knows?

Donut King, I hope that drip feed campaign starts sooner than we are expecting (next couple of weeks mabey?)

I noticed that too, hopefully there is a lot of padding behind that camo to give a false impression. (The bumper kind of sticks out a fair bit).

mmm...makes sense FMIC's block airflow to the radiator, and are more susceptible to damage...

lol... This reminds me of the people who take photo's of Area 51 in the US. There used to be a viewing area less than 10km from the base that people could take photo's, when the government took over the land to stop it, now the only viewing spot is a place called Tikaboo Peak which is 26 miles away. You need a giant lens and perfect weather to get anything worthwhile

Top mounts suffer from heat soak and are less efficient

Does anyone here have an idea when those first VE shots came out when it was black and white checker somewhere in North America? I cant for the life of me find my old wheels mag with it on the cover.

The US ones weren't camo, they were burkas. And they were September 2005, 12 months before offical launch. Looking back at the photos now, they were also complete, not patched together.

The camoed ones were from Aus.

I have all the photos do you have one in particular in mind and I will post it, rather than posting random or all.

just looking at a scaled up version there is definately some contrasting areas which maya or may not mean anything but they kinda stood out so I did a little paint over of what I could make out.. some interesting forms under the headlights, what look sto me to be a roundish shape...possibly a spotty .
You can also definately see a gradual flaring from the top of the guard to the wheel arch looking at the angle of the camo.
another thing that stands out to me is the bumper line from the wheel arch curving up to the headlight..
as for the supposed bonnets scoops, they look very XB ish if indeed they are scoops..I would love it if they were

its all probably tricks of light, padding, my imagination.....or all of the above.

interesting nontheless

That fact that the paint over fades and unfades is annoying and you cant take it all in before it fades back. Keep it on the darkest one.

Ironically the other day I saw an AU1 Forte parked next to a VE Omega, and was shocked at how 'bizarre' the VE looked. Far too square, ridiculous wheelarch flares, front and rear ends far too upright. It looked like a truck, compared to the sweeping coupe-esque lines of the AU. The VE's really are bizarre looking things. AU could've worked with a better stance, and less cheap plastics. Anyway, I reckon the Aurion's look nicer than the VE's. Hopefully Ford will hit the mark with Orion (it's looking good so far)
