i call it a hatch simply due to the much smaller cargo area than falcon. i don't reckon you could fit much more than a sedan in there.
personally i hope ford do come to some sort of positive decision for the wagon enabling them to keep it going (hopefully updated somewhat) for a bit longer. that would mean my next car would be sorted. at the moment its looking more and more like i'll be back in a sedan. |

Hatches have rear parcel shelves connected to the hatch, wagons dont. The Holden is a wagon Full Stop.
You may class it as a little wagon or a big wagon or a mid sized wagon but its still a wagon. Seeing them in person the Holden has a longer and wider load area than the Mondeo. Its just because of the Mondeo's front wheel drive drivetrain it has a deeper boot than the Holden, which gives it the larger litreage. |

I own the most recent XR6 Wagon (14 year old clunker now).... Thats something that they really should be looking in to?? Ok - given that the ED / EF XR6 Wagons never really sold that well - to be fair they were a little ahead of their time.... This was a time where SUV's weren't every second car on the road... And to be fair to Holden (which I don't like doing)... The Sportswagon is a good looking machine.... particularly the Calais/SS wagons with big hoops and dual chrome pipes... I've seen photoshopepd versions of an FG wagon and I like it... I hope someone sees sense.... and that it is developed at some stage!!!

Dont use the EF as a judge on how successful a XR6 wagon would be. Back then about 3-5% of Falcon sedans were XRs, nowadays its over 45%. I would buy one! I test drove the Holden SV6 wagon last night... great car, but im keenly awaiting Fords decision on the Falcon wagon, even though I have a feeling I wont like the decision. |

Nope it's a hatch from my point of view was looking one today, at the point where hatch goes up & its about the same point as most hatches, what threw me off at first was that the car is so large so when you look at a mondeo or mazda 6 wagon they don't look as large as it but by all definitions it is a hatch/lifestyle wagon. Which does not really mean any thing other than if you want a REAL wagon then it is not for you, but if you want some thing a little different from every one else then maybe it is for you, I suppose that is why they took off at first. |

the Sportswagon Is a wagon.
If it was a hatchback, it would look like this... not the first time Holden tested the waters with a hatch... The Sports wagon clearly is a wagon, it doesn't even have sedan rear door frames...and that's a good way to seperate a hatch from a wagon....

I'm tipping the Falcon Wagon will die next year some time.
Why would Ford do a Hatch like Holden ? That Commodore Hatch is stealing sales from the Sedan. : |

Damn hot links!
It was the Torana TT36 anway... basicly, a hatchback uses a sedan roof, and a intergrated boot/windscreen... The Mazda 6 is a good example, sedan and hatch share roof/rear doors etc, wagon has a different roof and rear doors...

You see quite a few SS Wagons on the road and even some HSV model Wagons here in Brisbane/Gold Coast area.
I love the Wagon being a drummer but I wouldn't buy a falcon one as it looks POX simple as that. Maybe people are buying the commodore wagon over a RAV 4 or a kluger as not everyone is brand specific and they want that v8 buzz like they had in their youth and nobody was able to offer it in a sensible family package till now and this isn't going to be stealing sales away from the commodore sedans now it creates a wider customer base. I would honestly look at a XR8 wagon if it had half the styling the commodore wagon has. I drive a 1968 XT V8 wagon (factory) I love it and Ford Australia need to "GET SOME NUTS"

Open the back of a Mondeo wagon and a Mondeo hatch and you'll see what I mean. Quote:
In the end I dont really care what the Holden is called, we all have different opinions on things which is why we all drive and love different types of cars. I guess it matters only what the customer thinks, Im looking for a wagon and the Holden is on my list. If Im spending the money, and if I think its a wagon then to me its a wagon.... if Im fooling myself, so be it, but if Holden gets the 40 odd grand out of me I dont think they would care even if I called it a hot air balloon. |

You wouldnt (or anyone else for that matter) happen to have the interior dimensions of the Mondeo and Sportwagon cargo area? As well as the Falcon wagon dimensions as well. It would be interesting to see. All I have found is the volume. |

Unfortunately I cant find any measurements for the cargo area, Volume is the usual way of measuring the space size, but it doesn't tell you height, depth of width of the area.
