RDA vs DBA and Dimpled vs x drilled

im looking at upgrading my braking system, either RDA or DBA and x drilled or dimpled and slotted

ive already asked someone and he said dimpled was the way to go over x drilled as they crack. and what are the best type of pads to use?
dont care on brand and dont care if they have asbestos or not so long as i stop in time and it doesnt affect the ABS im happy.

this is my research before i fork out the money and wonder what the hell iv bought if they fail and i get t-boned in an intersection

from my personal experience go the slotted and metal pads,drilled are more suited to track use or circuit and yes do have a short life i have had stress cracks on mine aswell and i am in the process of getting dba gold slotted

I am running RDA slotted and happy with them. AU S2 stock brakes still ok on the wagon with good green pads and RDA slotted only rotors

I've got RDA slotteds and greenstuff pads, they pull up pretty well (series 1). Considering the reasonably large price difference between RDA and DBA I couldn't see any reason to go DBA. I have noticed a bit of rust on the hubs of the rotors which is annoying, but I intend to paint them soon. I don't know if this happens to DBA's or not. There is a little brake squeal until they warm up. Dunno if this is a problem with mine or happens to everyone, I haven't bothered to get it checked yet. Cheers, Matt.

FWIW though, I wont use DBA rotors on the advice of a braking expert down here. In his workshop he carries only RDA stuff and refuses to fit DBA unless a customer really wants them, his reason being that DBA coats their rotors in oil to stop them rusting, but this oil affects the discs performance and always covers your rims in crap. Now how true that is I dont know because I have never had DBA's on a car, but this guy knows his stuff and hasnt steered me wrong yet so I do trust his advice.

Im not sure whats on my ute atm, but when the time comes to replace (and the fronts need doing in the next few weeks), I'll be going RDA slotteds and EBC pads. I do have bigger brakes than standard though.

dimpled are sort of half cross drilled, they drill them but not all the way through. rda also puts oil on their discs, apparently tho it's not as much or as bad as dba uses...i got rda slotteds from ebay with rda pads, they are very good imo, when warmed up at certain pedal pressure they are very noisy, but squeeze a bit harder or softer and they're pretty much quiet, i find they pull up very well espically with late braking so they don't squeal. i'm not sure about dust because i only have stockies, au1 forte by the way

u supposed to remove the oil before fitting rotors ladies and gentlemen ... ;)

RDA coat theres too everyone has to. You just clean them before install easy as whats the problem?
