Well folks, our shores have finally been graced with the presence of the monster 485kW Ferrari V12. Today, just before lunchtime, myself and a mate spotted a Ferrari 599 GTB in the back streets of Mona Vale, heading away from Church Point. I can't say for certain that this is the first one in Oz but I have yet to hear of any being sold here.
I must admit, I had reservations as to the looks but after seeing one in the flesh, they look absolutely awesome! And that 485kW V12 (Enzo motor) is just something phenomenal. For those who may not know, the 599 GTB is the replacement for the 575 Maranello.

Its got 460kw, not 485.
Personally, I think it looks ugly, as is the 612.

It belongs to a friend of mine who also has a silver 360 and a red 430. He sold another older one to make room for this one in his garage. He just likes Ferraris but uses an AMG Mercedes as his daily driver.

I reckon that car looks an absolute ripper from what I can see.
And you'd make all those VK/L drivers cream their lacy panties too. In fact, almost any car is better than a VK/L. |

Not to be pedantic... but the 599 GTB has 456kW. That's 611bhp or 620 PS. Source? Ferrari's own website.
http://www.ferrariworld.com/FWorld/fw/index.jsp Not hard to look things up. 456kW @ 7600rpm, 608Nm @ 5600rpm. Its also one of the ugliest cars Ferrari has ever made IMO. And all things considered, not that fast (an F430 F1 will beat it to 100km/h and down the 1/4 mile) especially considering the huge price tag.

Ugly. The Maranello it replaced looked 100 times hotter. Such as shame they made it look like that as its been said to be one of the best Ferrari's to drive ever.

Maybe you should have a read of this roadtest... Ferrari 599 challenges big brother Enzo Any car that can do the quarter mile in 11.2 seconds is fast by anyones standards. Oh and have a look at this video too, forward it to 15mins 12sec (it's in german I think) and see the times Auto, Motor and Sport got out of it for 0-100, 0-200 & 0-300... times seem to match that first article. Also, forward video to 12mins 42sec to see top speeds attained in the test... interesting numbers. Auto, Motor and Sport From all reviews this car is a rocket, and I bet it would look one hundred times better in person and on the road than all those pics show it out to be. Have a look at the car from the upcoming Gran Turismo on PS3 and see what I mean. Gran Turismo |

Faster or not, F430 > 599. Looks a billion times better and costs almost 2x less for three tenths difference in the 1/4, or in otherwords, pretty even with average joe driving either one. Must suck for Enzo owners though. A 'mainstream' model gets a slightly detuned version of their engine (650 to 611hp) and is as fast as their car down the 1/4 mile without some longevity issues (2 or 3 full throttle starts = bye bye Enzo clutch).
