The other day i attempted to install an electronic shift kit into my mates xr8, after finally getting that anti tamper bolt out i went to take the cradle off the ecu but it was fouling on the dash, i tried every concievable angle, pushing pulling but it wouldn't clear the dash. surely to god you don't have to take out the bottom part of the dash...... do ya. Can some one please explain how to get the ecu out please, i don't really want to start pulling other bits off that aren't needed to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Surely to god someone has taken ecu out of an au before. i really need some info, i don't want to just start pulling things apart then finding out i didn't have to. please, any help will do

i am not 100% sure which anti tampre bolt u r talking about. to remove the ecu from the car u have to drill out the pot rivet that holds the ecu bracket and earth wire in place facing rearwards. replace that pot rivet with a self tappering screw. once that bracket is removed the ecu shall fall into ur lap.
