just in case we are still arguing about whether or not two doors are sports cars, I had a 76 corolla 2dr. top up the fuel and oil and you could do a blazing 85 k's per hour without fearing for your life, HOWEVER, every, and I mean every insurance company in qld considered it a sportscar based on the fact it had 2 doors and rear wheel drive.

also, the rear wheel drive was only a consideration for most of the insurance companies, a couple nocked me back because of the missing two doors, they didnt care it was rwd (for that year it was a little rare)

That is funny as! Does that mean my dad's 89' Rodeo Diesel (non-turbo) cab-chassis is a sportscar? It is a 2 door and usually drives through the rear wheels (unless you put it into 4WD). You could even compare it to AWD Skylines and WRXs! The Rodeo has a top speed of around 100 depending on wind conditions. To reach 100 requires an incredibly long stretch of road, and uphill runs should be avoided!

Have seen a couple of Nissan Stageas ... and Toyota Chasers as well.
Still a rare item on Aussie Roads ... although you'll see more of these up in QLD than down in Sydney

I once saw what looked to be a hardtop Mustang (late 60's) semi-stretched by about a metre and converted into a ute (tub, not trayback). It was maroon, and had no mags or anything, it looked pretty run down. This was whilst in the Tasmanian back-country. I would have got a photo but i had no camera :(

Yuk. Sounds even uglier than the Mustang limo.

Did anyone else notice that the picture of the Mustang sedan appears to be a photoshop? You can see the opposite b-pillar through the rear windscreen. Compare the shape of the left rear window with the one on the right.

Lol no. Its a utility. Usually anything 2 door is considered a sports car insurance wise.

Sweeet, does that mean no matter what I do to my 2.0L 4 door Escort, it will never be considered a sportscar, however the 1.6L 2 door Escort I used to drive (that has a knackered engine with hardly any compression) would be a sportscar? In that case, can I get more for it if I sell it (the 2 door Escort) as a sportscar? :P

Yeah, I was just joking. You couldn't get much further from a sportscar than a Rodeo. I should have used smilies to show I was joking :

Thank god that 4 door stang never made production. (Sides thats what Falcons were)
I remember "motor manual" mag (or was it Van Action) hada corvette stingray panel van onthe cover in about 1978 sometime.
Anyone have any old panel van mags from the 70s or 80s they would part with fora fair price?
