Default Point to Point Speed Camera

Just to let SEQ Motorists know today they installed cameras north bound Bruce highway a couple of metres past the bridge at the twin Mobil Service stations at Beerburrum / wild horse mtn, as well as some more cameras near the huge illuminated sign before the Caloundra turn off, weird looking cameras i haven't seen before, im guessing this is the point to point.

Looks like two separate cameras looking at different angles.

saw them installing them at both points as i headed south around 9:30am and they were all done when we came back through around 6pm

No lines on the road yet so unsure if its active though

When the initial reports came out about this gear it was supposed to be South bound but looks like its going to be north...

the ones at Caloundra end have been there for months, they only just put the southern end ones up last week but have been doing electrical work on both sets for about a week now so not sure when they are going to start working. Also have been told they are fixed speed cameras aswell as point to point cameras

the one with 2 boxes on it? Im guessing thats the radars, one for each lane? It used to be only one box on there but they changed it to 2 last week when they finished installing the other end

the point to point went into operation last monday and can distinguish between bikes cars and trucks, basically both directions from around the Ettamogah pub to city are timed and if you slowed down then sped up again and you get to the next camera and your average speed is 1kmh over your pinged in the mail,
anyone who travels this route lately would have noticed you are not dicing with trucks at 115 kmh they all know already and have slowed it back a bit.

pretty sure thats not where it is? All the reports said Caloundra to Beerburrum and there are cameras about 1-2km south of Caloundra exit and under Johnston Rd overpass at Beerburrum where the Mobil Servo's are, all on the northside of the highway. Hardly no one seems to know what they are, I drive that everyday and everyone jumps on the brakes when they see the cameras but speed up again in between them thinking they are just fixed cameras and not point to point lol

Kenz is correct in the location, and also about the attitude of rivers approaching them. Everyone is slamming on the anchors at 110 and then speeding back up, was a pretty dicey moment over easter. Its a very frustrating section of road now, a lot of traffic will sit in the outside lane doing between 100 and 105 so passing has become a slow exercise with cars tailgating you as you creep past at 108/9. They are going to make a mint off of the cameras. Although wont catch the ****************** towing a caravan only doing 80 causing everyone to try to pass nearly causing multiple pile ups.

God yes traffic was the biggest pain in the rear ever yeasterday as everone sat in the right lane doing 101kph all too scared to get done to do the ACTUAL limit of 110!!

One thing i did note about the point to point... if headed northbound, you duck into the mobil servo, then head straight back on the highway, you enter after the camera, and the first point to point camera wont pick you up so it wont be able to time your journey?

The other way is to duck in behind a truck and mirror their speed.

above link will tell you all you need to know.

its not operational yet, and same for the clem7, the camera's are still in 'trial' phase, ditto for the speed/redlight camera's and the speed cam at nudgee.

Yeah heard about these ones a while back. They look like standard fixed ones, but they have been playing around with the ones outside Moby Vics for months now.

They will be a gigantic pain in the backside, everyone will be too scared and will inevitably do about 95 in the left lane and that will leave anyone else who actually wants to do 110 stuck behind a B Double doing 102 in the right lane.

Are these things active yet? My guess is these camera's as well as the ones near Kawana are Anna's way of punishing the good people of the Sunshine Coast for being completely Liberal. She really can't loose any more votes for doing so.

How many cameras are being tested? Where
will they be tested?
There are multiple cameras being tested in locations
across South East Queensland. There are:
 two combined red light/speed camera locations
 Waterworks Road and Jubilee Terrace, Ashgrove
 Beaudesert Road and Compton Road, Calamvale
 three spot-fixed speed camera locations
 Pacific Motorway, Loganholme
 Gateway Arterial Road, Nudgee
 Clem7 Tunnel, Woolloongabba to Bowen Hills
 one point-to-point speed camera system
 Bruce Highway, Caloundra Road to Wild Horse
Mountain, Beerburrum
 one mobile speed camera (used at varying locations).
Quote:
When will the new cameras become
operational?
The cameras will begin issuing speed and/or red light
infringement tickets when the Queensland Police Service is
satisfied that the cameras are fully operational. This is
expected to be 2010.
Quote:
Point-to-point speed cameras
What is a point-to-point speed camera system?
A point-to-point (or average) speed camera system uses a
number of cameras over a length of road to measure a
vehicle’s average speed. The system uses the time it
takes for a vehicle to travel between the two points to
calculate the average speed of the vehicle:
Speed = Distance/Time.
NO they aren't in operation yet......

I think these things are working now? I drive to work at 5am and you can see little red flashes from the lense as each car goes by.

They are active just they are being tested as far as i know so no fines being issued. Yet.

There is supposedly a new fine issuing system as well so needs testing as well i guess.

All they need now is a sign that says “welcome to Victoria”. We have this problem down here in a big way, especially on the Geelong Freeway where “just to be on the safe side” morons sit in all three lanes at 95 causing all manor of aggravation.

I’ve just googled the population of Queensland and the number of people up there currently stands at around 4,406,800 give or take a few.

So the answer to your question is 22,326,081. This is the current population of Australia going by the “population clock” on the ABS website, because EVERYONE in Australia has Chairman Bligh to thank for saving them.

Make no mistake about it, Chairman Bligh would prefer it if these cameras did not make ONE CENT. They are not about topping up the government coffers, they are about saving lives and the people of Queensland have now been saved. Hallelujah.

Soon you’ll have Benny Hinn as minister for propaganda.

I almost forgot, do they call a spade a spade up there and call them “speed cameras” or do they have the “touchy feely” line like Victoria and call them safety cameras?

i think they refer to red light cameras as safety cameras, but the rest are fixed speed cameras, point to point cameras, etc......
