It still has to be registered for 12 months but you can now pay it 6 months at a time. We cant do a seasonal rego. It would be great if we could.
I like SA rego. Rock up with the plates and pay it when you want to use it.

Bzzzt! Close, but no cigar.

6 month rego is just that. Registration for 6 months.

Short term registration options for light vehicles

Short term registration provides RTA customers with the flexibility of renewing their vehicle’s registration for a shorter period, or moving their renewal date, at no additional cost.

The option of short term or standard 12 month registration periods can be made at the time of renewal.

Short term options include:
6 month registration on passenger cars and light vehicles
3 months registration on trailers.

Unless youre under 25 then it about $520 regardless - bike or car...

I'm a young guy (under 25) with a family, so I have a Kia Grand Carnival (2100kg) and HSV VX Senator (1800kg) with HSV plates...

I pay about $2000 a year in rego and CTP... this doesn't include normal car insurance... which is about another $1000 per car for me... and I havn't had any claims either!

So my 2 cars cost me $4000 a year before running costs.... sux to be under 25 and trying to enjoy life - government makes it hard... but I knew the cost before I got the cars, so I just wear it... One of those things....
