Default MITSU 380 Cracking Up

"Car maker Mitsubishi has been forced to replace the driver's door gass in some of its new 380 sedans because of spontaneous fractures.
Spokesman Kevin Taylor said the company experienced 20 such incidents in company cars or cars still held in stock. No glass failures had been reported in cars sold to the public.
But Mr Taylor said the company had identified a problem with a batch of vehicles and was replacing the glass when necessary." The Courier Mail Nov 2.
Not a good start for a company pushing the best built car in Australia.
I hope there are no other faults with this car.
The car needs a fair go.

That's the second recall they've had with the car. I don't think they can afford to have this car to fail.

Racv gave it a good rap.....5 out of 5 for handling & parts priceing.....
the lowest score was 3 out of 5 for the pricing of the car $34,490 for base model plus ORC..
OVERALL RATING 4 out of 5.

Wheels mag did get 15.3 out of a manual 380.

Isnt 12.1lts/100km a bit steep? I though the Falcon and Commodore were around the 11lt mark?

they are a bit thirsty...i hope mitsi have some success with this car, they really need to...last time i drove a magna the steering wheel was in the way of the dash cluster, no matter which way i moved the seat and wheel i could never see all of the speedo...anyone else have that problem with the last mitsi series? We had heaps of em as govvy cars...i ended up reversing one into a gate and it cost 1300 to replace the bumper...thankfully it wasnt my bill...the replacement govvy car? a hyundai accent hahaha

Its good to see they're still using Pilkington aussie glass. I heard that Ford are using chinese glass in the Falcon. Is it true?

I think that this is more of an issue for Pilkington than for Mitsu. The Aussie glass manufacturers were trying to convince GMH that they could make glass as well as anyone overseas and GMH didn't believe them. The VE will have overseas glass as a result.

Pilkington is a UK company listed on the London Stock Exchange.

I do agree tho that its good to see them use glass made in australia and help keep about 1600 people in the job!

All I know the branding on my glass says SFH. So I have no idea where it comes from.

Don't listen to Wheels, they can't get good times at all. NZ press are getting 7.2 seconds in the autos. Can't wait to drive a manual one though.

RACV is our motoring body here in Victoria, these Stats came from the monthly Mag....Racv did the most of the testing at Calder Park raceway..

I dont think it will affect them that much, considering its been put out in the light straight away and no customers have had to deal with the isuue, yet.
Remeber all the trouble the typhoon had, they have recovered well from that.

I hope mitsu dont have too many more troubles, from having the ex general manager bagging them and various other media's giveing them a bit of stick, I really hope they stick it up em.

Any company that pushes to use australian made goods should be cheered.

would have to say it "should" give the camry little bit of a scare.....

yeah it's a minor issue, one they will hopfully clear up.

On a good note apparently they are harder to steal than the Falcon and Commodore which is always a good thing

True, and I don't think it's inherent risk in getting stolen would be very high - its not an Evo/Clubsport/Sti/M3!!!!

Yesp, the Falcon's glass comes from China. I think it changed at the AU introduction.

The new 380 may be harder to steal, but I think its a case of would you want too??? It certainly wouldn't be for a "joy" ride..

Good luck to Mitsubishi, a lot of jobs depend on this car.

I was very dissapointed when l checked one out in the flesh. They have the same clumsy stance that the au had ( Tall , thin looking and doesnt sit on the road nice) especially the rear end and the interier fit and finish was very very poor. The only thing l liked was the seat cushioning and the dash rubber.
