Here we go again. Another worthless thread. Pretty sure Jeep are well down the list when it comes to warranty issues based world wide.

Could be interesting. It will probably be trolled up unless they have some method of verification to be able to input. VIN number perhaps?
I just love the idea of the Grand Cherokee SRT8. Looks good, goes good, sounds good. Ticks all my boxes but having trouble looking past the Jeep reliability reputation.

I have owned 2 of them its no more of a lottery than buying something with the problem circled neatly on the grill.

I owned a Cherokee for 4 weeks
Got to drive it a couple of times when it wasn't in the workshop. Flogged it off when even the Jeep dealer couldn't get it right. Lost about a grand. POS to the ninth degree.

Wrangler is OK. The rest, Patriot, , Compass, Cherokee (Cheroekee is a different car to Grand Cherokee) old Grand Cherokee are pretty much poorly built and a lottery. The hard part is people say I bought a Jeep and it was rubbish, tars them all with the same brush. It's like say I bought a Ford and it was rubbbish, well you may have bought a 05 Teryy with dodgy ball ball joints but that doesnt mean all fords a rubbish. As for us. The cook has a Grand Cherokee Laredo as a comapny car, and It's a gem. Its V6 Pertrol 8 speed auto 4x4. She loves it. Its 13 months old, has done 48,000+ km and no issues at all. Not even a rattle. It get 13l /100 around town and 9.5l/100 country. All for a car with an RRp in the low 40's. I just think people like to whinge.

I've definitely heard more good than bad from people who have actually had one. I'm sure they'll get plenty of good stories, and if they have any sense, they'll use the bad stories (not trolls) to improve what they offer.

We have a "base" model grand cherokee and I dare say it has more goodies than some of the premium models from other manufacturers. Sure some people have brought up reliability but we have had 2 minor issues and they were sorted pretty quickly.

I wonder how many of the stories contained mostly four-letter words?

I currently have owned a 300srt8 for 2 years since new and love it. No problems. Ive serviced and worked on several Grand Cherokees petrol and diesels all approching 100,000kms, and the owners love them. Idont think they are any more or less reliable than your typical Ford/Holden

Are Jeep using territory balljoints?!?! From when I owned a JK Wrangler the smaller Dana 30 front axle didn't take to kindly to bigger tyres and they look like 35s or 37s. There are gusset kits available for them which aren't priced too badly and are recommended for any serious off roading running 35'' + tyres. I never had any dramas with my Rubicon with the larger Dana 44 on 35s but then I never got her air borne. JK Rubicon still the best set up 4wd one can buy off the show room floor, awesome bit of kit. |

My parents have a 2013 laredo. They bought it specifically for towing a 3t caravan. Last trip where they visited me, the whole thing died. Only done 42,000km and the transmission was in pieces. Needed a whole new transmission which was done under waranty. However the jeep said in a round about way without directly saying it, the box is not designed for 3-3.2t yet it has a rated tow of 3.6t. They will now get the new box serviced every 10,000km even though jeep say 100,000km to make sure it never happens again. I told em to sell it. It took jeep nearly a month to replace the transmission and the service centre wanted them to pay to drop the pan on the trans because the computer picked up no codes. Well they got a shock when they dropped the pan and bits of tranny fell out. Suffice to say they were not charged.

Cool. Get them to jump on the Jeep experiences website and voice their dissapointment. No point voicing it here. Thats what the hole threads about isnt it?
