Default Au1 idle reset

sorry to bother but started an old au this morning after a long sit and a mild port on the throttle and she started straight up and idled good but im a gronk and pulled throttle wires gave a tap and replaced wires and now it idles at 2200 and 19 when i pull wires again.
i have searched for remedy but only find relearn but i cant drive her yet and at 2200 revs not really an option and the idle is tight and wont let me move it back down onto base screw. Do i just remove battery for an hour and push back down onto screw?? Allso hesitates on throttle and my ebay ob2. reader is junk and wont link so how to get codes with a wire please and any advice thanks very much.

Hi mate & welcome to AFF, are you saying the throttle is stuck? If so, clean out the throttle body & ics. Also check the idle screw is actually properly adjusted by inserting a 0.5 mm feeler gauge or similar (bit of cereal packet cardboard etc) between the screw & throttlestop, adjust screw if its not contacting the throttle stop/ butterfly valve until its just contacting.

Now start your AU & idle it with ics plugged in & then disconnect it to see where she idles at. Don't disconnect the tps for this test. If your idle setting is good, the motor should stall. Hope this helps, good luck!

thanks maka for your reply. l found the problem this morning was some tissue i had left in the throttle when porting it a little bit eek. it had wrapped around the butterfly when i started it for 10 mins to check for leaks,so lucky...
was a is a tiny tick now under idle but engins seems fine. still has a mild hesitation and would love. a way to pull codes without. buying another ob2 scanner???

Hi pondy, good to hear you found your problem mate! There's plenty of threads on obd2 stuff for AU's if you do a AFF search, hopefully you'll come across something that will help.

Hesitation could be coilpack (if you already did leads & plugs), inlet manifold gasket damaged or loose bolts, the tick could be oil related if its from the topend Imo, do you know the location of the tick? If you've got over 200,000km on the clock, I would consider replacing your fuel pump soon.
