Why is it that people don't see a problem with mowing the lawns in bare feet?

Or that parents don't see a problem with allowing their young children (say, under 10) riding their bikes in bare feet or opened-toed shoes?

Am I the only one that cringes seeing this, with a mental image of someone rocking up to the nearest ED with a tootsie or two missing?

Never mow barefoot, never wear earmuffs, then again I don’t rev the ring out of the mower engine so it isn’t making a lot of noise

I highly recommend it. The mower will still be 80 odd db plus a brush cutter near your ears.

Saw three people last Friday mowing the lawns in thongs (the type on your feet, not the ones that allow your bum cheeks to get burned )

Can't see that layer of rubber providing much protection for the little piggies.....

But, yes, ear muffs are a good idea, too. My Honda is stickered as being high 80s db (may even be 90, can't remember).
