Default Service and Warranty

Thought id ask this question due to the great knowledge base on AFF. I was always under the understanding that if your car is under new car warranty & you have a log book service by the workshop/mechanic of your choice. He had to use for example a genuine ford oil filter for example. To maintain the car's warranty. For my interest is this the case? Or if its serviced as per manufactures log book with genuine parts or after market parts equivalent to or exceeding geniune parts specifications that would also maintain warranty?

Your warranty wouldn't automatically be voided by fitting a non genuine part equal to or exceeding oem specs, but if there is a failure related to the non genuine part then there can be a bum fight over who pays for the repair.
When it comes to servicing I've never heard of a failure of nongenuine filters etc. I'm a tech at a Ford dealer & I'm happy to put Ryco filters on my XR because Ryco will cover repairs if the filter is found to be faulty.

I dont believe thats the correct interpretation of it, but may be wrong. From what I gather the car can be serviced by any licenced mechanic and as far as Ford is concerned they could use whatever brand of oil/filter etc they wanted to so long as it meets the specifications set by Ford in your owners manual etc.
