Default Protecting from hail damage with street parking

My main concerns are is my car is cheap like 1000 - 2000 value i think. these covers are 1/8- 1/4 the cost and custom to my car so maybe not fit a new car.

Is it just the windows that mainly need protecting? Do the lights get smashed by hail much? Or will dints in the bonnet cause much damage?

hailsafe.com.au

What im

s $449, a 2m storm blanket is $250 and a 2.5m storm blanket is $295.

The full stormcover covers the entire car not just the roof section, the
roof section covers are the storm blankets. The inner foam layer is 4mm
thick but the foam and the outer layer are not completely joined so there is
a layer of air trapped between the outer and inner layer.

The price of custom manufacturing a stormcover includes the following

* Stage 1 Custom pattern created and cut to fit your vehicles
specifications.

* Stage 2 Custom materials combined for the manufacture of your cover. The
outer layer is an effective UV deterrent Polyethylene fabric and also
waterproof, the soft inner lining is closed cell foam that will not scratch
and effectively repels hailstones with its spring like properties. The
inner layer is also thermal which means no heat passes through from outside,
this is why there is no sweating or condensation with Stormcovers, unlike
most other covers available. Below are some of the benefits of the foam
inner layer that we use in the manufacturing process:

. Fine, uniform, closed-cell structure, with a smooth skin on both
--surfaces
. Foam naturally springs back to its original shape on impact
. Excellent thermal insulation
. Temperature resistance from -80c up to 120c
. Very low water absorption
. Excellent chemical resistance
. Good weathering resistance

* Stage 3 The cover will then be hand stitched and supplied with straps so
the cover can be secured onto the car tightly.

The covers are sewn with UV treated thread and we use polyester webbing for
extra durability with outdoor use.

This price includes GST and there may be a delivery fee dependant upon where
you are. Manufacturing lead time is approximately 4-6 weeks from date of
order. I believe we have a pattern for your vehicle but if not then we can
create one, in some cases we require some measurements from you for this.
We require a $100 deposit to put an order into the manufacturing queue and
before we can start with pattern making and measurements forms.

As an optional extra we can also offer a 3 piece "Zip On" cover consisting
of a roof and 2 sides which join together with zips on the sides. This makes
folding and storing the cover much easier and some people wish to only
travel with the roof section of the cover for everyday protection against
bird droppings etc. when parking at work and shops. This is an extra $100
for zips and Velcro style Hook and Loop to fold over and protect the zip at
the seams, this hook and loop is further protected by a sewn layer of
polyester webbing over it.

The cover is 4mm thick and the foam being cross-linked closed cell foam
naturally springs back to its original shape on impact, we have done our own
tests with a metal weight and rock and the results of our testing can be
seen at the following link

http://www.stormcovers.com.au/weather.html

With regard to how easy they are to put on, they only take a few minutes to
put on but for easy storage then the cover with zips is best as it folds up
much smaller than the one piece cover, you can alternatively use a hail
blanket or have a full cover and only carry the roof section with you when
travelling.

STORMCOVER GUARANTEE: 3 YEARS but life expectancy of cover is 8 - 10 years

*** NEW PRODUCT *** We have also recently developed a new product "HAIL
BLANKET" the hail blanket is made from the same tough materials as the
Stormcover but is a roof layer of 2.m width or 2.5m width this can be easily
stored in the boot of the vehicle and secured onto the roof of the car
quickly in the event of a Hailstorm, it can also be used as a daily cover
but does not cover the bottom sides of the vehicle just roof and windows,
the cost for a Hail Blanket is $250 for 2.08m, 3 year guarantee and price
includes GST and delivery $20.

READY MADE every day covers are also available, prices from $39,
water-resistant, UV treated, with free storage bag but no hail or impact
protection, 12 month replacement warranty, + delivery charge at cost, more
info at
www.coverworld.com.au

If you would like me to send you photographs of cars in covers and a sample
of the materials used in the manufacturing process I would be happy to do so
please advise if you would like to receive the sample pack by post. From
this you will see that our custom made Stormcovers are very different from
off the shelf covers available from general auto dealer outlets.

You are welcome to come to our Maroochydore premises if you want to, I think
we do have a pattern for your vehicle already but if you have extra fittings
then we would need measurements.

Please send an email or phone me 1300 734 759 if you have any other
questions

------- Reasons to choose a Stormcover -------

Below are just some of the problems that can occur to your car without
adequate protection.
Hail Prevention * UV Damage * Water Damage *Paint Fading and Crazing *
Window Seal Shrinkage * Dirt, Dust and Bird Droppings * Tree Sap and Frost *
Plastic Deterioration * Dashboard Cracks * Rust Prevention *
Best Regards,

Samantha Steyn

* The inner layer of the Storm Cover has been shown to effectively reduce
impact damage such as that caused by Hail storms, however no guarantees are
given as to the prevention of Hail Damage as Hail is governed by nature and
we cannot guarantee against natural events, we provide a sample of materials
and photos of our own test results with the info pack for your review

They are a great idea, however the trouble with them is usually you will either get caught in a hail storm driving unexpectedly or you will have it parked somewhere where you cannot get to it before the storm to put it on the car. For instance at a shopping centre or in the front yard at home whilst you are at work, so all the money you spend on it is great IF you can put it on the car before the hail hits it.

The last couple of storms we have had I have put a blanket over the GT then a inflated king size air bed then a tarp over that (all strapped down), the air bed keep every thing away from the car's boot, roof and bonnet, as well as the side windows.

Insurance is the best thing to protect your car from hail. But seeing that your car is worth less than $2k, then why would you bother spending $100's on a cover?? If you get hail damage then why would you care???
