Before reading the article... on paper the GT-R would ring around the R8. Period.

Now, let's read it...

Until the 500hp V10 is in the R8 the GTR will spank it!

A very close thing I'd imagine with the GTR possibly just shading the Audi for outright performance - now to go and read it.

I quickly looked at it and the photo of stig flying through the air with a bandanna is worth more than both of the cars put together.

Interesting read. Very interesting result.

Oh boy, the GTR fanboys aren't gonna like that.

The whole tone of the article seemed to change in the last paragraph. Talk about backflip.

i reckon that review was shite couldnt believe an audi came so close even if it is the r8 considering in tests the GTR does 0-100 in 3.3secs and the quarter in 11.6 secs after two tries its also dual independant transaxle constant 4 wheel drive handles like a dream look how well it demolished the nurburgring.

i am seriously considering that this is a load of bull.

It wasn't a test for which is the fastest around the 'ring or to 100km/h. It was a comparison of the driving experience of each car, and the R8 came out on top. I'm not that surprised.

gee, whats new.
someone has their feelings hurt.
that is why the review was done by people that couldnt give a crap either way.
its called unbiased evaluation.
its no different that asking opinions about Holden on a Ford forum - 85% will crap on about how crap a holden is because its a holden, then the 15% WITH a brain will provide an unbiased factual view.

i bet youve never driven either car, so how would you know that the GTR should have been better?

Big words there - Was it yourself who had to un-bunch some panties when they got twisted from an unbiased review?

Before the new GTR came out, the R8 was the real deal with a fast 4wd, without looking at exotica.

Like the article says, the Audi rewards the driver , while the GTR could go faster if there wasnt a "mere human dicking about at the wheel".

I dunno, they both seem like awesome cars, i'll probably never drive either, But I know I'd rather steer a car, and not just be a passenger.

Still an 11 from a factory car is impressive, especially when it will hold its own in a corner.

Turn 18, get your license, drive both then come back and voice an opinion that may even be worth reading. Just cause you don't agree with the review doesn't mean it is BS. Journos have a lot more experience with these type of cars than 90% of us.
The GTR is no doubt a good car but it ain't a god of a car. It isn't perfect and probably suffers from what previous GTR's have, a nightmare to live with outside of the track.

haha nice i am 19 by the way and referring to the above comment yes i did have to "unbunch panties" but all im trying to say is my OPINION you dont have to be a complete *** to get your point across.

yes i probably did use words that were a bit forcelful but doesnt everybody get a little carried away at times i havent driven the gtr but have driven the audi very, very nice car i agree just never thought it would win.

again i have to say it you dont have to be a complete dick to people that say there opinions yes im biased but look at what nearly everyone here says about holden you cannot tell me that this is unbiased, as i think a lot of people with tell you your full of it.

all it comes down to is that your arrogant and cant seem to see that this is what a thread is for, its for OPINIONS.

1 more thing please if you have a problem pm me and we can sort it out outside of the forums because i dont think the rest of the forum want to hear about our crap its just petty.

GTR is a work of technical brilliance, it'll turn heads everywhere it goes.

The R8 is a work of pornography, it'll cause whiplash everywhere it goes.

All the reviews i've seen so far have said the ride in the GTR is quite rough, probably due to the run flats as much as the stiff suspension tune.

I love the GTR, but I'll take the one with the V8... just for the soundtrack.

Its the same with any performance vehicle.. the better you tune it to perform on a race track the worse its manners will be as a street driven vehicle..

just a question whats the price difference between the two in Australia. I think the GT-R looks good on paper I can't wait to have a drive of one.

But some performance vehicles ride quite well as well as handle. 911 Turbo etc. The GTR is supposed to be quite rough, and I'd put that down to the run flats, the same problem that BMW have been getting with cars fitted with run flats. The sidewalls are too stiff and totally bugger the ride quality. The Z4 was a classic example, the 3 litre Z4 with runflats had ride quality that was a lot worse than a Z4M with conventional Michelins on bigger rims with stiffer suspension, but it still rode better than the standard Z4 and handled better too.

BMW reckon they are getting into a 3rd or 4th generation of run flats now and they are starting to get on top of the problem, but it might still take a few years before they ride like conventional tyres do.

The 911 turbo is a relatively civilised car compared to their track cars, ever riden in a GT3?? (or a GT2??) they're like a go-kart.. hard and uncompromising on normal roads in comparrison to the Turbo.
What profile tyres are we talking about here? very low profile tyres have virtually no give anyway, and are designed not to, the suspension is meant to do all the work, the tyre is meant to resist deformation..

the Audi R8 is 260k + options(theres a big list.. almost everything is an option from the Top Gear episode i watched) ie 5k pounds for ceramic brakes.. etc
unsure where the GTR will price.. apparently ive heard around the 120k mark like its older brother the R32 was

and anyway.. name 1 performance car with aftermarket coilovers thats from japan that rides "smooth"
ever followed a skyline or 180sx or silvia along a bumpy road?? it looks VERY uncomfortable

Speaking of tyre profiles... the GT-R will have 2 options when it comes to tyres. Bridgestone Potenza RE070R (more for track use) and Dunlop Direzza something (for autobahns).
