Question Spoilered Or De-Spoilered

As the title suggests im considering taking the spoiler off as i saw a guys black xr6 in the "show us ya au" section and he had his removed and i think it looks sweet as! Just wondering what ppl's opinions are on it as i do know the backs tend to look a bit funny without a spoiler but at the same time look good depending on what exterior mods you have done.

Cheers!

I like spoilers but in some cases like a few cars in show us ya au they look hot without 1.
You can always just unbolt it and the decide.

Have you thought ove those little wings on a t series also ?

I have no spoiler on my AUII. I was offered a spoiler for free (fitted, painted etc) when i bought my car but declined as extra weight and drag = bad.

Like a mate of mine said one time about spoilers "I don't go 300 often enough to make one worthwhile"

You can honestly say you can notice the difference in day to day driving of having a spoiler and no spoiler?

And the Ford spoilers wouldn't be designed to be effective at 300km/h so that comment isn't worth much...

As for the original question, i reckon it varies car to car, some look great with, some look even better without!

1 of those t series wings the little bob tail, I've seen you car 100 of times and looking at that pic i can say it needs some sort of wing.

The AUs rear drops away so much that you've got to have a Bi-plane or T3 wing to notice anything!

Add an AU2/3 bodykit, then lose your spoiler.

IMHO the AU in standard trim looks incomplete even a bit ugly. a spoiler gives it the lift it needs.

Oh mate, i couldn't tell you. Wouldn't have a clue, but in theory they would do no more than give extra weight and drag. They are a fashion item only.

For your car to have no spoiler Brent, you would need a chunkier rear bar and have the rear lowered much more than it is.

Keep it.

Some cars just need a spoiler. The AU is one of those cars. The rear looks weird without one.

On the other hand, there's cars that look terrible with a spoiler. EA - ED comes to mind.

I took the wing off my T2 aswell looked OK but needed to be lowered a tad in the rear. That said i might take if off on the w/e and get some pics.
Ill probably put a bob tail on anyway.

At the end of the day it isn't going to be hard to undo a couple of bolts just to see what it looks like.

Very true, but I reckon the AU rear doesn't look very good without a spoiler.

i think a nice big V8 supercar style "holden" t-wing would look good on an AU. never been a fan of the ford V8 supercar wings. they're too wrx/evo lancer for my likings. but yeh, back on topic, i think lowered yes, they look awsome with no wing. the AU's are a sleek and elegant design, and the factory wings detract from the long swept back profile. the bobtail wings look ok sometimes too. i have a wing on my fairmonts bootlid. might trade the bootlid for a wingless one one day if there's anyone willing to swap. not right now tho, needs to be lowered first.
