Default Exhaust prices

Went to get an exhaust qouted for my XR8 today and was surpised how much they have gone up over the last couple of years.

Extractors for over a $1000 fitted? I remember they were around 700 not too long ago. And a single 3 inch cat back qouted around 700. I had the same on my NC done for 360!

Just wondering what other people have paid for exhausts on their 5.0ls.

Well, i don't have an 8. I have an i6, but i got my exhaust fitted in October last year and cost breakdown is the following:

Pacemaker 4480 - $630
Exhaust (Single 2.5" cat back) - $350
Stainless steel hi flow cat - $330

Total: $1,310

All prices including GST & fitting

Now the place i got it fitted at is pretty pricey, but they are very good. If i wanted to go to a cheaper place, probably could've had it done for $1,000

Well the price of steal keeps going up, so that might explain it.

Is that because people keep steeling it from other people?

Yeah, the price increases in steel just keep coming and coming.

On a slight tangent, you should do it, a twin zorst with extractors on these old windsors is money very well spent, not only for performance, but for the exhaust note alone.

was that for tri y's or 4 into 1's?, they normally charge a fair wack for fitting them about $200, if you handy with a spanner you could fit them yourself and then drive down and have the rest of the system done. Besides wouldn't you love to drive down the street with no pipes

Well yes prices have 'realy' gone up over the years by the sounds of it. Last time I bought an exhaust system was around 12 years ago and i got a full 3" stainless steel single exhaust system (including muffler/cat/the lot) fitted aswell for $280. Times have changed ! .

You people must be going to the wrong places. I got my twin 2.5" catback fully mandrel bent, with an X pipe and twin centre straight through mufflers and a twin in twin out rear muffler all custom made and fitted for $780 less than 12 months ago.

It sounds bloody awesome too.

This is why I am surprised.

The guy I went to (who I've been to many times before and know him so he wouldn't rip me off) said that the price of pacemakers had gone up twice this year from the manufacturer themself. And all the other brands were within about $50 of them. Sounds to me this steel pricing has made a big difference recently.

About 3 years ago I got qouted around $500 for a twin 2.5 exhaust and thought it was expensive at the time. Now its about double that : .

Might have to look at making one out of wood....

Most places with a high price have quoted you for a stainless steel system.

yeah the price of steel is just unreal now. I went to get a price for a new system the other day and its gunna cost me about $1650.
The same exhaust on an eb about 7years ago was only about $800 from memory. Oh well such is life. Its still a small price to pay to the HORSE POWER GODS.
