Question What do you guys think of this head unit

I've decided to upgrade my head unit and will be doing this within the next few months...i have always loved alpine and love the look of this model.. http://www.alpine.com.au/products/pr...sp?modelID=360

I love the sound of the USB cable where u transfer music to a usb stick and then plug it in and it just reads the files...no more burning cds woohoo!
Do you rekon it has an option to control the aerial from staying down when the radio is not selected?

Cheers.

Nice looking unit, being an Alpine I dare say it will control the aerial properly.

thats why you unplug the aerial power! set it to a certain height and unplug it... thats what i did.

Very nice headunit! aslong as it meets what you need it for then go for it... :

My mate has the Alpine 9886, not the 9886i, not sure of the difference but maybe the 9886i has Aus Warranty

Anyway he purchased off ebay for $229 plus $80 postage from Hong Kong to Aus, took three working days to be delivered to his door

Yes it has the Aerial control, turn off radio aerial down, turn on radio aerial up

Don't do what i did, accidentally switch from CD to Radio in Car Wash - Radio On - Aerial Up - Car wash ate my Aerial :(

Great unit, has remote control and lights up awesome, has all the functions you will ever need together with 4 volt pre outs, front, rear and sub pre-outs

Note the USB input is at the rear of the head unit - my mate ran the USB cord from the rear of the head unit to his Glove Box and it works well

I reckon you should keep your current headunit and buy a flash tuner....

As long as you don't drive out of the city Alpines are fine - don't expect to pick up any FM radio stations in fringe areas as their receivers are p!sspoor. Most of the time you'll be listening to music anyhow so I expect this probably won't bother you.

I have this exact model in my AU. LOVE IT

The aerial DOES stay down when radio is not in use.

Also with the Alpine units, if you get a Stinger CAT09 you can use you steering wheel controls and it plugs straight into the back of the headunit instead of trying to run wires to an infra-red transmitter.

I was looking at getting one of these when i did my system, was pretty impressed with it!!

But, I ended up getting an Eclipse CD7100

Fantastic head unit

Thing that won me over was Eclipse having 8V pre-out's whereas the Alpine is only 4V
