it could be done using a map sensor that uses same signals as the factory maf, it should be something simple like 1-5v

its to clean up the engine bay as ford must of had their eyes closed when designing it then just put an engine cover on there to hide the cr*p
am looking at an lod school setup with a throttle plate atm and to redo the engine bay over time

Wow its a lot of money to have to spend to clean up the engine bay...

But yes, it will require a different ECU. Or as suggested possibly MAP would be the easier way..

Amen to that...different strokes for different folks though.

I believe the MAF-less tuning on the early 5.0L Falcon EECs has been done using Alpha-N tuning (using TPS and RPM) rather than Speed Density (MAP sensor).

I dont believe the MAF-less tuning has been succesful on anything post EL Falcon though...? Give Chiptorque a ring.

its possible to do it in the E series coz they have an ECU capable of dealing with it (EB's had a map sensor as well as the MAF) but they changed to a dif ECU in the AU

how would you go about using the six cylinder MAP sensor on the V8???

Gary, AU1XLS's ute was a mafless tune set up, running through a Heltec ECU.Was a bit of a pain to get set up but made some good numbers in the run in stages but was pinched and blown up before it ever made its full potential, send him a PM and he can fill you in what it took to get it to run rite. Here's a bit of the original video we did messing around with it, was Tuff as : : :

I ran my auxr8 for 25000 very hard and faultless km mafless using a tuned stock ecu.
I have since gone back to a maf as I scored a free one.

Some people believe that anything in front of the throttle body is a restriction, but in this case the OP is simply after a cleaner look in the engine bay.

My car is going in for a mafless tune with the stock ECU and an old chiptorque chip...being done at chiptorque.
