Default GPS with front on/off switch?

Hi All

I want to get a GPS to mount in the tissue box cavity on my FG but I need one with a front facing on/off button. I like the Tomtoms but the switch is on the rear. Can they be hard wired to auto start?

Has anyone seen one preferably with multi media capabilities too?

cheers and thanks
Geoff

I think most auto start when they are plugged into a power supply

That is correct - I wired mine to a permanent supply (they are 5V so you have to retain the little power pack) by putting an accessory power socket under the dash and taking the power feed from an ignition on fed circuit.

Works fine - the only downside is that the thing will be useless when not powered after it's been used like that for awhile.

Cheers
Russ

Garmin work well with the auto power on from acc power. Tomtom do not.
I have no idea about any of the others.

Most GPS can be connected to an "external" ariel which is what the OP will probably do.

mine sits nicely behind the gear stick in the opening under the tissue box slot in the BA and it still seems to work fine

one thing you'll want to keep in mind is making it so its not too difficult to remove. need to update those things every so often
