Default Ford Rare Spares partnership

Anyone catch this?

http://www.caradvice.com.au/202041/f...c-partnership/

Hopefully some good gear will come out as a result of this - would love some new tail light assemblies/lenses.

(apologies if a repost - couldn't find anything on a search)

This is new - we just "announced" it an hour or so ago. The Rare Spares crew are sending through some photos - hopefully soon - and we'll upload them to our FB page then.

It's good to hear Ford has become partnered with Rare Spares. I believe Holden is closely connected to them already based on the amount of GM parts at my nearby Rare Spares store, so it's good there will be more Ford parts there too.

They should be the same quality as Ford are giving access to the original tooling.

Plastics and the such, as well as QA controls may not be as they were when ford made these parts back in the day.

I heard that Rare Spares purchased enough Holden NOS parts to fill several football fields, a year or so ago. Apparently at that time negioations with Ford to do the same failed. However this looks like we will all be winners & grinners, so bring it on.

Good news.

What will happen to everyone who has that "special no longer made" part that they thought they would get hundreds or thousands of dollars for?

Other than that, good for the "X" series guys.

Damn straight, there's a hell of a lot of common E series parts that are unavailable, and its stuff that should be, like door seals.

How can something as common as a door seal be obsolete. And electric exterior mirrors?

"Classic car enthusiasts will have access to authentic Ford badges, decals, wheel caps and trims, windows, door and boot seal rubbers, engine and cooling components, electrical components, lamps and lenses."

Nothing to suggest we'll be getting coupe quarter panels and the like. Question.. How does ford have the tooling for items that were manufactured elsewhere?

Its highly likely they have all the tooling math so as to be able to make tooling to reproduce a genuine panel

Perhaps.. But something doesn't sit right with me on this. Hopefully I'm wrong, as i would most probably be the first to spend my life savings as rear spares buying parts.

But last week 212 poor bastards are made redundant, new car sales have dropped, yet they want to reproduce parts they made 40+ years ago for, let's face it, a small market.

Like I said, I hope I'm wrong. Really hope I'm wrong.
