F150 for Aus?

The last few nights I have seen a Ford add on the telly where the Ford dolly bird walks up to two doors and goes though the one marked SUV. She then talks up the Kuga and Everest. At the end she asks as a tease "I wonder what's behind the other door". Door #2 is marked Trucks, does this mean the F-series is set to return? Hope so.

Rangers are classed as trucks according to Ford.

Theoretically because it wasn't derived from a passenger car (the everest was later) a ranger is a pick up truck, however a commodore or falcon ute is a utility, as it was derived from a passenger car. All the adds are doing is trying to big man the ranger. I have a ranger as a work car and it fills the role well as a commercial vehicle, but the only fun factor is not having to fill the tank very often, hmmmmm

I think the opposite. I now live in the country and there's huge demand for tow vehicles. I say bring the F trucks. Bring them all. F150, 250 350 and 450. Some of the bigger Super Duty's can tow 15 tonne.
We should also get the new Explorer as it has 3 petrol engines. PETROL.
I've looked at the Edge but I'm not a fan. Maybe it would drive well but the specs don't look good on paper.
This post won't make any sense to people living in our Capital cities. But cars are used differently here and the car parks are bigger.
Make them all global products and flood the market I say, just like Toyota.

In the states they call them tractor trucks. A 1/2 tonne and up 'ute' is a truck to them. I have had some confusing conversations when I tell them that the delivery is on the next truck

Trouble is these "trucks" are getting bigger every model and the Ranger is now bigger than the earlier F100 F150 series.My 84 SWB F100 SWB was about 150mm shorter than the PK Ranger I have now.Same with the smaller utes,The Hilux is now bigger than the earlier Land Cruisers and so on.I think there would be a market for a smaller Nissan 720--early 80s size ute because not everyone needs a ute that takes up 2 parking spaces.

Ive got a 1981 F100 SWB, it does look wider than a PX Ranger though.

Id be down for a new F150 if it was reasonably priced, say $60-75K.

Yeah well in the last 13 years I've bought 2 new falcon Utes, 1 falcon wagon and 2 new Territory's. I've done my part.
But I'm not sure what my next move is.

Well unfortunately the day of the big sedan has gone.Look around and see more than half of the cars on the road now are either twin cab utes or Asian SUVs.Of the remainder 3/4 of them are smaller cars with the remaining couple of percent being either Commodores or Falcons

Yes, Rangers are "trucks". Sorry Ford Australia...they're utes, not trucks...

I do like the F150, they're not stupidly large like most Yank trucks so they will suit our roads and parking lots, and once you move up a bit in trim level they look quite good as well. They seem to have a fair bit of clever engineering in them too nowadays.

Sadly though once you factor in our "you vill drive RHD new cars or nothing" regulations and that we would only get the upper level ones to make them acceptable to Australians who are used to decent build quality and trim and features, they'd be like the new Dodge Rams...close to or well over a hundred grand.

We're too small a market for special models...which has always been our problem. Yes, the F150 ends up in other countries, but they don't have our governments abject terror of letting people freely drive a brand new car with the steering wheel on the other side of the car if they so wish.

That's a very biased opinion to have, just because someone chooses a bigger vehicle you think they shouldn't be able to afford to keep the thing, what do you tow with, a Nissan Micra?

Exactly. I personally don't see the point of the truly massive Yank trucks on our roads...but an F150 would fit in just fine.
As for "why own a 4x4"? We own a Triton...it suits everything we want to do perfectly and lets us go interesting places if we so wish.
The only reason we don't have a Ranger (the styling of which we liked...the styling of the new one we really like) is the crippling pricing of the things.

If they could produce the F150 in RHD at a reasonable price and at a trim level Australians accept, it would sell like hot cakes.

Hired a F150 while in the states recently awesome bit of vehicle. Great sounding V8 reasonable on fuel especially at $2.80 per gallon.

That's what we plan on doing next time we head over there. If you keep an eye on deals you can hire extra cab ones for less than a medium sedan, probably because of the dirt cheap price F150's sell for in the states.
