Default Why do some find it easier to make and keep friends

Hi

Just been asked this by someone, Why do some people find it easier to make and keep friends.

Is it because they might live in cities or larger towns or might have better cars or can afford more repairs at once an they because of either can make deffinate plans to meet somewhere because cars less likely to have something go wrong or have a regular place to have people over

Or do you's think bit of everything

You'll go far to follow this advice, I've got about 4 friends.

But they're the ones if they ring you up at 2AM and ask you for help burying someone and you ask where are we meeting and get in the car no questions asked

It's all about effort. Everyone makes the same number of friends - it's the effort you put into keeping them going.

It doesn't work when only one side is making the effort...

You'll find more true friends in a small town than a big city.

Yep, I'm in the big city and I have this "friend" who has knocked his house down and is building a new one.

So he has nowhere to store his car, and I have a large shed.

Can I please store his car in my shed while he builds a new house, like well over six months!?

Can I please drive his car regularly because it is old and needs to be driven; he has put me on his insurance!?

The nerve of some people, like I’ve got nothing better to do than put the top down on his 1967 Mustang and take it out on sunny days to keep the battery charged....

People who dont keep their cars in good condition show to those around them that they have no pride in themselves, and their lack of effort to present a good appearance shows they don't respect those around them enough to make an effort. Consequently, their friends don't make much effort to maintain the friendship as they see this friend as not being fully committed to the friendship by not wanting to make repairs to their car.

OK, I'll bite (nicely).

You like cars - that's why you're here.

Some people like some oddball cars (how the hell did Sangyong ever sell the Stavic), and some people/sheeple will simply buy what the masses buy - like a Corolla, Mazda3 or Hilux. Others like to be different, or have different tastes - buying things like a BRZ/86, or a Skoda. Some like to be a dominant person, and buy a big-*** 4WD and fit big lights, bullbar & blacked-out chrome.

All of these things translate into people who you meet - there's many who have similar tastes to each other (like guys & cars, guys & football, or girls & fashion for example) - they would be your Corolla or Mazda3.

Many people with lots of "friends" have a lot of Corollas & 3s in their lives - they don't need a lot of maintenance, and trundle along just fine with very little love.

Others are a solid-cammed small block, requiring constant attention to run just right.
They may be admired by many, but few can handle that sort of constant need for attention.

Other people who have the same interests & hobbies as you - and have a personality that you can get along with - they are the right car / friend for you. It's then up to you how well you treat each other's friendship, as to how well it progresses.

I have a handful of really good mates. Every one of them has at least 1 hobby/interest that I share with them. Most have other interests as well, that I'm not into - but it's give & take, and that's how you learn about the world.

In my younger days I found it extremely easy to make friends, we moved around a bit and always had a new group of mates pretty quickly, now not so much, I think the difference is now my tolerance for idiots and bull sh*t is minimal. being a non drinker also helps. I was a pretty normal kid though, good at sports etc, parents were fairly social, you kinda get accepted pretty easily, my missus has a friend with an autistic son, he's 10 and unfortunately really struggles to be accepted by kids his age.

I never had a problem making friends we bonded over cars helping each other work on them do re-sprays engine's out headgasket's mod's etc......

Then we used to go for cruises to the local hangout's and beaches etc.. and just park up and admire each other's car's

If your not a dick and go find a cruise or car meet up on social media in your local area be nice and courteous and you'll meet heaps of nice guys I have bonded with some of my bestest mate's over car's, that I've met or a mate has met at a cruise or car show etc... if you put in the effort you'll be surprised how many fst and how many friends yiu can meke.

And by the way I have had ADD all my life and it hasn't stopped me from making heaps of friends yes it does get me into trouble sometime's when I do or blurt something out but most people just brush it off as oh that's boza that's just him cause I'm honest with them about my mental health and they accept it as I try and be funny and not a dick most of the time just my advice.

Maybe you need to take your own advice...your postscript tries to make light of how much fun it is having Alzheimers.....you obviously don't have a family member that does and if you did you would realise how terrible it is....maybe a little consideration for others.

LOL.. laughing at some of the comments in here, one person asks the question, and there's almost a riot, now this is one way of how one wont be making friends, one can make many friends during the course of their life, but, if one is lucky, they will click well with another, and have a friend for life, if one is REALLY lucky they may have 2 great friends, it doesnt mean the others are not good people, its just who one clicks with really well, its not how much money one has, or what sort of car one drives, characters just need to click, (compatability), some have a more outgoing personality than others, and have (gift of the gab), there are just too many variables, as to why some have more friends than others, I believe, just live your life, and treat others how you would like to be treated, and if your meant to be friends, it will happen depending on your attitudes towards each other..
