just pulled off my discs to my shock i need a 35 mm socket for hubs bearing nut have basically looked all over around autobarn repco no one has it any ideas guys can i rent one im stuck

If you know someone who owns a bulldozer/grater/or other large machinery vehicles, then you could ask them if you could borrow their socket set, they use sockets aound this size , maybe even try like one of those places that hire out large machinery / it wouldn't suprise me if they hire out the socket sets too .
Also Fitting and Turning suppliers sell sockets that large (alot of bolts are around 35mm that hold the press tools into the 200 tonne presses and larger ). Or your favourite mechanic might lend or loan you his if you know them well enough. lol Oh , i have also seen them in supercheap auto in the past , them might still have them in stock. By the way , it won't be cheap to buy a socket that large ! . gl , cheers.

a 35 mm socket comes in a 3/4 set.. i have a 3/4 set for work as i am a mechanic for CAT. most of my sockets are rather large.. go to bunnings.. the have 3/4 gear cheap

no. no one will make a 35 mm socket in half inch. that comes under 3/4 gear

alot of the 3/4 sets i have seen don't even have a 35mm in them , alot of them go straight from 34mm to 36mm (not all of them though !), although you would probably find you could use a 36mm socket (1mm larger) on a nut that large a size np without causing any damage to the nut.

finding a socket is one thing, dinding a ratlle gun with enough torque to pull it off and put i back on is the other.
last time i changed my front bearings we had to use a 1000Nm rattle gun ... damn that was fun .. NOT

that was useless to us, we had the entire upright assembly removed from the car as we swapped from s1 to s2

Total Tools in Ferntree Gully have 1/2in drive 35mm sockets etc. I bought one there about 4 months ago to replace the front hub on my AU3.
If the car is supported properly and you have a strong arm, a 12" bar should be enough to loosen the nut if you are careful. Use a torque wrench to tighten the nut again afterwards so the correct tension is applied to the bearings. See the following for more info. http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=48203 Andrew

thanx for info guys i ended up taking hub assembly to my mechanic and he leant me his tools and torque wrench must admit was preety hard to remove it
