Default FORD - Found On Rubbish Dump (literally)

Hi all,

Found this sad and sorry sight while cruising around outback Andamooka last Friday.
I though a few of you would shed a tear or two as I nearly did.

It didn't have any compliance plates on it to tell what engine it had fitted, but going by the paint scheme it appears to have been a GS.

There was also a HJ GTS Monaro there in similar condition.

Very sad indeed.

the sad thing is the country is littered with dumps like that.
you only need to go to some remote rural area that has its own dump and your bound to find similar.

I heard a rumor that that car was the original interceptor from Mad Max, but had all the stuff removed (hence no front end) and was repainted yellow to stop trophy hunters, then dumped...

Default Dump

No. it's definitely not that car.

I took this picture on Friday and it appears to be the original paint job.

It wasn't there a while back when I was up there last time so it's only been dumped recently.

There is at least one other XB coupe in Andamooka that I know of but it's still driven daily.

I'm currently working in Woomera and also have pics of another XB coupe that has been butchered up for use as a speedway car and it's laying in a paddock up this way too.

I'm a collector of Aussie Muscle Cars and always keep my eyes open when out and about in these outback areas. You never know what you may find.

so sad...

looks as though it was rolled, and landed on a gutter.

Im sure you could make a nice convertable out of it ;)
Better on the road as a convertable, than rotting away into the ground...

If it had rolled it would have a lot more damage than that. It's been crushed at some point.

Here's a pic of the car in front of it.

It's definitely a dodge/valiant of some sort.

Some random bloke came up to me once at work - I heard him on top note asking someone "Is that your Ford?" Got pointed to me...

Here we go another "I had one of them" or "I built that car, do you like the colour I chose" (rack off its the only one this colour - and I built it - so get bent)

Anyhew - this bloke went on and on about his son's yellow coupe. Claimed it was a GT 351 etc but I'm sure he wouldn't know. Story goes after only a couple of weeks owning it the guy drove it off the end of the Port Lincoln Jetty (or was it Pt. Pirrie?). He and his front passenger got out, but the rear passengers did not as the roof caved in (upside down at the bottom of the sea). He carried on about how dangerous the coupe is because the roof will squash in - just like I'd imagine in those pictures. I wonder, if just maybe, that's the yellow coupe from the bottom of the ocean? (I assume they'd have dragged it out 30 years ago to get the two rear passenger's remains out)

Andamooka is a little far inland don't you think?

call me crazy but that to me looks very restorable. no serious rust (since im sure it hasnt seen rain in a long time), straight panels and pretty much intact.
thats just my opinion though.

i reckon they're probably just dumped after being nicked and stripped, I've seen three cars nicked and stripped around the corner from my place this year alone

(makes me want to check my cars still in me garage/intact though)
