Question MACCA's To Patent Burgers !!!!

No one else puts a burger together quite like McDonald's - or, at least, that's what McDonald's thinks. The company has put in a patent application (WO2006068865) in Europe and the US that tries to stake the company's exclusive claim to their sandwich preparation methods.

If you have ever gone behind the scenes at McDonald's you will immediately notice the posters that visually describe the components of each sandwich to the cooks, but the process is more complicated that just a photo - especially if you follow the instructions in the patent application. Apparently, it involves the "pre-assembly of sandwich components and simultaneous preparation of different parts of the same sandwich." Bread (a.k.a. the "bread component") is toasted while a filling is heated. Condiments and garnishes, from ketchup to tomatoes and bacon - are put into an "assembly tool" and added, together, to the sandwich. And it is the making of sandwiches, not the making of "McDonald's burgers" that the 55-page application tries to claim in the name of the company, noting "often the sandwich filling is the source of the name of the sandwich, for example - ham sandwich."
A spokesman for the UK patent office said that, while they may be able to claim their "assembly tool" as unique, neither they nor anyone else can gain the exclusive rights to making a sandwich.

Hahah, that's classic.

Imagine the consequences if someone was stupid enough to approve the application. Lol, every deli from Adelaide to New York would be shut down!!!

Surely McDonalds can find better use for their legal resources than this!!

*Cook burger pattie
*Toast bun
*Prepare fillings
*Prepare pickles (which will end up stuck to the roof of the restaurant anyway)
*Assemble burger
*Spit in burger
*Wrap it up
*Give to customer after asking if they want fries with that

Dont even get that any more. Big mac comes in a box!!!! Or i should say, you get 2 pieces of bread, 2 patties and some other stuff... which may or may not resemble a burger by the time you get it home.

I am sure that website thing Maccas have created...makingupyourmindforyou.com...will have something about the creation of their burgers. Not that I care about actually visiting the site, I don't eat at Maccas anymore because it makes me sick.

no the assembly tool is the moron in the back of the McDonalds who just stuffed up his 1800th consecutive order and just passed the burger to the serving tool who hands it through the window to you and gets your change wrong.

they bake nicotene into the buns lol. i used to work at hungry jacks and the stuff that goes on is unbelieveable. i heard of a guy pleasuring himself in the toilets then he went back to work? and one night they stayed open with no running water for 6 hours. the stuff that goes on behind the scenes makes you wonder whether you should eat there.

it's also a means of employment so people can earn some money on the side to pay for things they like/want to do. like say, drive a ford.

What do you order though?

a medium big mac meal?

or:

3 large cheeseburger meals, one of the burgers has no pickle, large onions instead of small ones and extra cheese, the other is meat and cheese only, and the other is normal, for the drinks, we'll have one diet coke no ice, on mix of half coke/half fanta and a chocolate thickshake. and a filet-o-fish without sauce, add lettuce, beetroot and a slice of tomato.

oh, and a triple cheeseburger. :

I'm ex Maccas employee and am proud of having worked there.

And I love the pickles. Used to have my quarter pounders with about 10 pickles on them...
