Default Why do Ford Charge for Oil & Filter @ 3k service

It got me thinking of this today, as Mum had her 3k service on her Fez today at Jarvis Ford (Norwood) $84 bucks Oil & Filter from a Ford dealer seems reasonable. But when I compare this to the guy @ work that got his VE SS 1500km sevice n/c includeing oil & filter as it should be Free.
Does anyone know if any other manufactures charge for first sevice eg 1500 - 3000km Oil & Filter besides Ford? I Paid extra for Oil & Filter change for my XR6 at 3k service.

The 3,000 "Peace of Mind" inspection is 100% Complimentary, as stated in your owners handbook. It does not include a filter or fluid change, that doesn't occur until your 15,000km first minor service.

$84 for an oil and filter change including labour is pretty damn good if you ask me so that in itself wasn't a ripoff. Sounds like the Dealer might do it to all vehicles at their 3,000km service as a means of either extra protection to vehicles or whatever you might make of it.

That's on the V6. For the V8s, the "peace of mind" inspection is still at 1500km and the first minor is at 10,000km.

He lied. Holden don't change oil & filter until the first minor service @ 10,000km for V8s or 15,000km for V6s.

It's an I6, no crappy V6 in the Falcon or Territory. :

And for the V8's, I could swear it was still 15,000km or 12 months. The peace of mind is also still 3,000km's.

I am talking Fords here.

Duuuhhhh... Have Ford started making a car called a "VE SS"? :

MoreHPformyXR6 was comparing Holden service to Ford, so I provided him with the correct info about Holden service.

I would assume that people on a Ford forum know how Ford service works... :king:

As for the V6 vs I6 argument, they're both ****. Everyone knows that real engines have 8 cylinders. :

No oil change on a commo's first service. That's probably the reason.

An oil change would be good peace of mind. Get rid of all the floaties left over from the manufacturing process.

That's what the filter is there for. There is absolutely no need to change the oil at 3000km POM service.

So it is just a blatant rip off? I cannot believe Ford would do that :hihi:

oil change is not part of the 3000k service, i would question why they changed it unless your parents asked for it. As for the holden service the v8 used to be 10,000 but its now every 15,000 same as v6. HSV is still 10,000 i believe?

She had it changed at my suggestion - I understand that the filter is there for a reason but IMO its the way to go. I had it done myself @ 3k but each to his own. :monkes:

The reason I started the thread was wondering if any manufactures offered a free oil & filter change at 1500km - 3000km check up/service or what ever else it shall be called eg my Lancer back in 2001 recvd it as part of its 1500km service free of charge.

If they didn't charge her for it, they didn't do it.

Oil still looks new @ 1500km anyway, so how can you tell?

Personally, I change mine every 5000km. No matter what engine the car has in it.

I had my oil and oil filter changed on the 3000-km service. I supplied my own oil so I only have to pay for the oil filter. I only paid $13-14.

In your mum's case, sorry to say, but $66 for around 4 litres of oil? it better be REALLY good stuff.

Before any of yous type "how about labour?"... labour is free on the 3000km complementary service. I didnt pay for labour.

The 307 had it's first check up/service at 10,000kms. Peugeot didn't change the oil then as the service intervals is 20,000kms. I took it to my mechanic this week and had them do it for me instead. Being a diesel, I'll probably get the oil changed every 10,000kms instead of the Peugeot service recommended 20,000kms.
Peugeot will change the oil at the 10,000km check up if you request it, but they'll charge you for it.
