Well I've just done the annual rounds of the insurance companies to reinsure my F6 (auto, leather, FPV wheel) with a comprehensive policy.
I'm aged over the hill, have a rating one, no claims in last five years, two speeding tickets in the last five years. Here are the quotes:- Company Market value Agreed value Excess Premium Suncorp yes no $1050 $863 AAMI yes ($50020) no $500 $1507 RACQ yes no $400 $1189 QBE Declined due to speeding tickets (market value was $58960) Just Cars yes ($51500) no $400 $1249 Rino no yes ($65000) $500 $777 The Rino agreed value quote includes covering $8000 worth of aftermarket wheels and accessories. Can anyone advise of a better deal than Rino is offering? edit: the values and excess and premium figures were supposed to line up under their headings ... ? |

Dont be quick to judge a company you have never heard of b4.
2 years ago i insured with budget direct, and no one at my work had heard of em, and were dubious about them seeing as my quote was tons less than the rest. Car got wiped out, the repair was about the same as the market value. it was gonna get paid out but a few phone calls and a fax proving how well treated my car was proir to the accident (to raise the market value and justify the repair) and it was fixed with no hassles. |

Yes, looking for the cheapest quote is important to me. I make up a grid with all the things I want and tick them off after each quote, then the one that offers the best deal (not neccessarily the cheapest) for the least money gets my business. The fact that you have never heard of Rino is no concern of mine, as many other forum members have. I wish I could pass on my "cheap" quotes to yourself. hehe |

Been away ... I got a quote form Shannons last year and they were way off the mark. I just phoned them but their answering service says they'll phone me back in business hours tomorrow.

Budget direct dont insure FPV's or HSV's and there are many other hi powered performance cars they wont touch, they only take on low risk cars that have low risk drivers.
Alianz wont touch FPV either. Make sure the company you choose gives you a choice of repairer.

Thanks for the info on Budget Allianz just scim the no-risk cream from the top. They cancelled my wife's policy after she was NO FAULT rear ended (her car) three times in 2 years. From the insurers I listed in my thread I'm going with Ryno. They beat the rest by far. I've done an ASIC check on them and they come out fine. |

i had my xr6 turbo insured with shannons until a few days ago, when i changed to Ryno. i was paying $1731 with shannons, now $1126 with ryno.
they have a thread over at rexnet where they've saved something like 40K collectively by switching to ryno.

Well, Shannons phoned back but they were a dead loss. We didn't get past their maximum agreed value of $48K! Plus they weren't interested in any of my aftermarket accessories. Other company's market values varied from $52k to $59K. My Ryno policy is agreed value of $60K, choice of repairer, lifetime g'tee on repairs, yearly free windshield, 14 day hire car after theft, pay by the month if you like, etc. etc. |

I also found Shannons disappointing. Their TV ad shows a GT-P (owned by a Forum Member) yet their online quote system does not allow one to select a GT or GT-P. I phoned them for a quote (new GT) but they were hundreds of dollars more than one of the big standard insurers and offered me less benefits. Seems, based on the questions I was asked, you need to have owned high performamnce cars before (no dings or claims), have a CAMS track licence, be a member of lots of car clubs and go to every car race meeting in order to get a competitive premium.
