Question After Accident Repairs?

Hi this question may sound stupid but im only asking because i dont know.
I have a friend who recently had a smash. the car was hit in the left rear door/q panter. there was no chasis damage but the parts that got repaired were: (left rear door/q panel replaced, sill that goes around frame of car (inside doors), rear bumper replaced and boot floor heavily beated back into original position) now the car is back from beaters and it is stuffed. one hell of a dodgy job (paint doesnt match/boot sits higher on left hand side, left rear door is out of alingment(does not sit flush with quarter panel) and to top it off there is about a 1cm gap between the rear seat(on left side) and the door, aswell as the left rear wheel arch is out by 10-15mm(ie left rear wheel sits inside arch 15mm more than right hand side does) :evil3: ! now this was a private job so panel beater wont be named as is now out of work(shop closed : ). so my question is can the car be taken elsewhere to have the work done (ie align everything properly) considering car is not smashed and 100% back in one piece? thanks :

Why can't you take it back to the panel shop. Just because it was a private job and not an insurance job ( I presume thats what you mean), they still have to do a satisfactory job or you can complain.
Give them the opportunity to rectify it, if no luck go to the Motor Trades Association or Consumer affairs.
If it was just a back yard job well then thats the price you pay unfortunately. Any reputable panel beater will / should guarentee his work.
I had a small private job done, wasn't happy with the colour match, nicley asked him to do it again and he did.

My only suggestion is to get a quote on what it is to put it right and then find out if he went bankrupt and talk to the banruptcy administaor to put yourself as a creidtor for the cost of repairing his workmanship, even then its unlikey you will see anything

I think you'll just have to take it somewhere else to get it fixed, seeing as the shop is closed and wasn't done through insurance...its a shame that there is dodgy poeple out there because it give the rest of us a bad name.
