I can't believe how many people say they were never caught! - that's amazing.

I average out one every couple of years. I got a few when I first started. then I had about 4 years with nothing until the 60 zones changed into 50 zones. When that happened I got 3 speed camera infringements within 2 weeks! 61, 62, and 65. I've only had one more since then - got 11 out of 12 points now.

It's not too bad in Tassie - we get a nice 10% buffer to allow for speedo variances and they always use the same spots (to death mind you) so keeping it to a minimum isn't too hard.

I had NEVER lost a point!... So I contested this one.. (below)

Dear Sirs,
My name is”Charliewool”; I am 50 years of age and hold Victorian driving licence number 02518****
On Friday 27th October a roadside speed camera in Blackshaws Rd Altona North detected me allegedly traveling at 67km/h in a posted 60km/h area.
Whilst admitting that I must have irresponsibly been traveling over the posted speed limit to receive this penalty, I would also like to point out what a totally out of character offence this is for me.
I operate a small engineering business in Laverton, and spend a great deal of time driving, covering around 40,000 Kms per year.
From memory, this is the first time I have been detected by any form of safety speed device in this or any state of Australia.
I consider myself a mature and very safety conscious driver. I am astutely aware of the dangers of traveling at unsafe or dangerous speed along with the tragedy that accompanies motor accident trauma.
All I can put the above offence down to was a momentary lapse in my concentration, for which I am extremely ashamed and remorseful for.
I would sincerely ask the possibility of having this penalty reduced to an official warning due to it being such an out of character offence.

Yours truly;
Charliewool

You broke the law and had it retracted I can't see any justice in that. Fair enough you have had many years of experience but you still were driving at unsafe speed according to the state, why should one individual be treated any different to another ?.

Too often.

But not as many as my wife. If I get nailed in the next 12 months I'm walking, and if my wife does in the next 2 years she's walking.... driving habbits will need review.

Between us we average about 3 tickets a year....

The only mitigating circumstance is that both of us drive in excess of 35k each year.

......yesterday. 86km in an 80 zone. 500 metres to the tunnel on the freeway! A Sunday morning at 7.00AM. Car is miles per hour and sitting on 50. I am such a menace to society!!!!!!! :togo:

If I was doing 80 in peak hour, pouring rain, winding in and out of traffic, I wouldnt get fined!!!!! :

3 days after getting my P's i got done for speeding, i didnt have my license on me and obscured number plate. I copped a fine for each of these offences. The next night i got a canary from the TOG's patrolling Geelong. 6 months later i had my most recent speeding fine. 78 in a 60 zone. I was 19 when all this happened. Im now 32 and havent had any fine at all since. Am i proud of myself ? Yes. Am i lucky ? Hell yeah.

4 speeding tickets in 20 years so that'll be every 5 for me.
First one was on my P's a week after I first moved to Adelaide to do my apprenticeship. I waited ages for a gap and upset people behind me so I took a small gap and floored it. 200m later I got pulled over for 88 in an 80 zone.
The last one was a couple of years ago...107 in a 100 zone
