mate have a look at xfalcon.com they have done similar conversions to XD-F falcons. I know they are a little different to XA-C but couldn't be too much more difficult

Are you talking about I6 (or I6T) or Boss?

Oh man 351, you gotta have the sound to suit the shell, needs to be tough. I can't stand the wimpiness of my EB let alone an AU/BA, they sound like rice.
If you just want power/response and nothing else then I'd say blow your XR8. Aint no muscle car with a drony ricey I6 turbo. Anyway I've seen BA motors in older models like XR's from the 60's, and with all the computer crap they require to operate I would assume it would be quite a head pain. I'm sure it could be done though, almost anything can be done.

the main issues will be-
-the front edge of the rocker cover will probably hit the bonnet if the engine is fitted to high -you will need a modified sump for clearance - with the length of a 6cyl there may be issues fitting a radiator, condenser, intercooler and cooling fans other than that the physical fitting should be ok? correct me if ive missed something |

everything is possible. making it all legal is where many problems lie, but still not impossible, just more expensive to make it all comply and be engineered properly.
haven't seen a I6T in a xa-xc but i have seen a boss260 in a yellow xc. either way, you'll need a healthy bank account. |

Can be done, and youll need to adapt the harness to suit the older car, not to mention engine mounts, modify the transmission tunnel, driveline, brakes, sump, radiator support panel... get engineer to certify it...

There is a 65 Mustang with an AU I6 with a turbo, and it fitted pretty easily.
Fitting it is probably the easy part, its an I6 fitting where another I6 once went. Its the electronics that will require most of the work, but its do-able. |

I have thought about this one too. I have an xc 4 door that would be great with a 400rwkw xr6t motor under the hood.
The engine itself is no longer than the original 6cyl that used to be fitted in them. So length is not a problem. Like has been mentioned, the problem is the height of the rocker - at the front with the bonnet and at the rear with the plenum. Then the engineering will need to be addressed. V8 brakes and discs all round should see to that. And running the factory engine control system. But as a project - hell yeah, go for it! So much better than the boring 351 clones out there. Team it with a stock looking exterior (steel wheels, moderate ride height and a quiet exhaust), and watch their faces when you cream them!
