Paid only $355.89 for a green slip for my Territory last Oct from the NRMA, country rates. They can be quite cheap but only if you have a good record, multiple policys, (about 10), and have insured with them for many years. They only charged me $610 for full comp ins on my terriitory. (07 Ghia ). On the other hand they charged my 23 yo son who has a clean record and a full licence $330 for third party cover for his beat up ZL Fairlane.

Do a quote online for your Territory and see what the difference is. Make it look like you do not have a policy with NRMA. You will see what the savings are.

Just registered a Liberty GT in Victoria, rego which includes compulsory CTP which you pay directly to Vicroads was $650. In NSW that would have been over $1000 for 12 months rego and having to go out and get my own CTP.

Why does NSW not go to the Vic way and everyone pays the same rate? There is no lottery at rego time, it's a fixed cost you can budget for.

The only thing I think about Sydney after living there for 7 years: Pay more, get half as much. Sydney is a hole, best to migrate elsewhere

Full of wise decisions Bob Carr was! Why do you think he moved to New Zealand after stuffing NSW....

It's common sense that you negotiate as a government for a rate from insurers, you will get a better price than every individual getting their own price.

Even car comprehensive car insurance in NSW is double to triple the price compared to Vic. Why? I think a large part of it is just price gouging from insurers.

Just renewed my GT with NRMA, greenslip was $420 with youngest driver being my wife who is 28. If she was over 30 would cost me $360.

I think you'll find (in NSW anyway) that Green Slip, like most insurance policies vary depending on your postcode.

For the people who live in Syd, try entering a few country town postcodes and see what the results are.

Yep they do vary by postcode - Its tempting to move all my stuff to the old's address, they live up the central coast and its much cheaper than syd!
