BOSSXR8 you done with your bashing?
I have an issue now....having two small RWD cars doesnt make much sense...I love my GTV but this thing looks fun..hmm maybe cage up the Alfa for track days and the 86 for a daily!

The toyota looks more natural, the Subi looks like its been changed for the sake of it.
I think after a few years, we'll seen some proper differentiation between the two.

Interesting the car is designed to carry 4 wheels in the boot and fold-down back seat for track work. Meaning you can drive your 86 to the track, swap the slicks on, do track work, then put your street wheels back on for your trip home.

Can't wait until everything has been tried on these cars in a couple of years, so that all the info is out there and you could just pick one up for cheap second-hand and then modify to your likings!

I'd go the Suby if I wanted one
Why o why can't they do an STI powered one (it would be 50k not 30k, but that's cool) |

All the little things they have done with this car seems they know what this car will be used for ie reversible head rests for a helmet. Well done IMO, yeah might not be the most powerful car around but by god i reckon it will be a fun drive.

I think it's a fantastic move by Toyota and Subaru to provide a small, affordable, RWD sports car, something that has been missing from the market for a long time.
Yes, it's not the fastest thing, but give it some time and the aftermarket scene will be awash with power upgrades, turbo kits etc...and I'm sure Toyota and Subaru will be planning high spec versions in the near future. Maybe GM and Ford could have done a similar exercise by collectively creating a RWD sports car platform to give us an affordable sports muscle car to compete with the 86 / BRZ.....This platform could have been used for the next Gen Mustang/Falcon and the Camaro/Corvette/Commodore......

They, BigT, will buy the whole company when and if they see fit, and if Mr.Toyda decides he wants to [petty cash for them] Its important to note that subaru is not supported here in AUS by Subaru Japan, it has a importer [Inchcape] in the middle, so the prices will never be as low as they could and its NOT A FACTORY BACKED OPERATION Buy the Toyota |

$29,990 is a very competitive price in Australia and that's probably the reason why everyone is so excited ... but in other markets (e.g. USA) the 86 costs the same sort of money that more desirable cars in my opinion can be purchased

It will never happen while the Falcon is still being made locally ... it will simply canibilise most of the FPV / V8 / Turbo sales ...

Think i figured out the perfect sales slogan for the car.
"Toyota 86, some people just don't get it."

I am tempted to go 50:50 on one of these with one of my boys when he gets his first car, on the proviso I can have some fun on the dirt roads around here and our back paddocks.

They have a rather different idea of what constitutes a "sports car" over there...and it's usually something with savagely stiff non-compliant suspension and a massive engine to make up for it with straight line speed... |
