yeah, it seems girls don't dig creepy guys with camera phones as much as I thought......who'd have thunk it not a bad looking car in the metal. the cheese cutter wheels and forester stance is all that needs to be addressed really |

At the moment you can buy TRD parts for your 86...but there could be a more powerfull full house TRD factory release in the future.

I have test driven one and they are an awesome car. But, try and purchase one!, 6-12 month wait on an auto and up to 2 years for the 6 speed manual, no thanks.

HKS managed 180kw, on a stock motor, and the gearbox is the same (Aisin AZ6) as in the s2000 and later RX-8 and l MX-5's. And people haven't had any too much trouble with stuff under 300kws...

The Nissan competitor has missed the mark completely from what I've seen. Fwd base model, with awd as an upgrade from base but it'll cost.

I have also read that the gearbox is made of glass. Interested to read about this HKS car.

Tranny info, AZ6/TL70...basically toyota's re-engineered version of the gearbox.
None have been broken yet, and the AZ6 has been used in cars that copped abuse in the past http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=193296 HKS stuff... made 180 kws, then they went for more power with a built motor. http://www.hks-power.co.jp/en/produc...s86/index.html

Interesting they haven't released any information on specific parts needed for the supercharger upgrade? Wonder how much gear you need...
Edit: 1:07 around Tsukuba isn't bad either. Only about 2 seconds off a stock Evo 6. |

Might look into a second hand 86 in 1-2 years when I retire the sonata. Would be a great daily and fun too. Couldn't live with a 180sx or a Silvia as a daily, as fun as they are. An 86 should be within grasp in 1-2 years and providing they have a good reputation as a solid quality car then I'll look into one.

A guy I work with bought a brand new WRX...and straight after taking delivery it was off to Brisbane to some modification mob to have another $7500 spent on it...exhaust, bigger turbo, show-off valve (not a misprint...), computer, and a lot of other work.
I asked him how that was going to affect his new car warrantee, and he scoffed at my doubts, saying "Oh they said anything Subaru doesn't cover, they'll fully cover...they promise." Sure they will...car companies just love you taking a brand new vehicle and modifying the hell out of it...they won't have any problem honouring warrantee work after that... |

my car lasted 2 weeks before the warranty was 'technically voided' and other week and it was gone.
Still had warranty honoured.

Isn't warranty normally something that runs out before something breaks?

back to the toyota - castle hill exhaust in sydney have just uploaded photos to their facebook of a completed turbo install on a customers car. the customer was chasing 50kw on top of factory which was able to be achieved because of the direct injection..
they haven't put a dyno graph up, or a price

Convertible GT86 anyone???
It's the Toyota 86 convertible and it's most likely for the road in 2014. No-one at Toyota is denying a droptop extension of the sellout new coupe, which has created waiting lists up to 18 months in Australia since sales began little more than six weeks ago. Related Coverage 2012 Toyota 86 GT: review Subaru BRZ beats Toyota 86 to crash stars Toyota 86 Gazoo Sports FR Tada answers questions on the Toyota 86 Toyota 86 to race at Nurburgring More on TOYOTA Then, again, there is still no official confirmation from Japan. "Please, ask me another question," the head of the 86 program, Tetsuya Tada, laughs when Carsguide quizzes him on a convertible. Carparazzi has done the job for Tada with its impression of how the red-hot coupe will look without a roof, and the choice of a German number plate is a reflection of the car's success in Europe and Toyota's recent decision to set up an AMG-style hotrod division for Lexus at its one-time Formula One headquarters in Cologne. The droptop was definitely not part of the original 86 development brief - a joint program between Toyota and Subaru - but it has firmed with incredible early success of the 86. Coupes traditionally hit their sales peak inside the first two years and Toyota knows it needs the convertible to stretch the appeal of the 86 and continue the showroom demand that will keep its factory running at full capacity. Production was originally pegged at 60,000 cars a year but waiting lists around the world - including Australia - could force Toyota to spend on an upgrade to take the total beyond 75,000 in 2013. Toyota Australia is currently quoting a minimum wait of three months and a worst-case delay closer to 18 month. "For the GT automatic it is three or four months. For the GTS manual, which is the most popular model, it's out to about 14 months," admits Toyota spokesman, Mike Breen. He says Australia is pushing hard for extra cars but is waiting for news from Japan. "We're trying to get more production but, because of the global demand, we're still waiting for answers," he says. While the world waits for new on the 86 convertible, its toughest rival - the Mazda MX-5 - is set for renewal sometime in 2014. Not only that, but an Alfa Romeo version of the all-new MX-5 - the world's favourite droptop - is part of the plan, although the Italian company intends supplying its own engine and bodywork. "It's great news. It helps us share development costs and increase production," says Doug Dickson, managing director of Mazda Australia. He is not talking about the on-sale date for the new MX-5 but admits it will be very different to the current car, with more punch and refinement.
