there is a reason why even the most brilliant tyre manufacturer makes a range of compounds. they realise that its not economic sense to fit the top of the range tyre to mums family runabout.

Back after the big earthquake in Kobe in Japan, where most of the tyre manufacturers, especially motorcycle, were based, I remember buying the last pair of Barracuda tyres in the state for my old Kawasaki triple...that was the last set of any size. Other more specialised tyres were on long waiting lists.
