Default GT40 Spotted

At the local Shell today I saw a Silver GT40 rego LEMAN1.

Just a few of observations and thoughts. The guy driving was about 6'4" not an easy car to get in or out of. The fuel tank(s) have a filler each side and dragging the nozzle across the car to be held upside down before inserting in the side filler seems silly.

The exhaust note was fantastic.

I know this thread is useless without pictures, but I still haven't worked out how to use the camera on my new phone.

Regards

Steven

I stood there trying to get my camera to work so that I could post a picture of one that hadn't been destroyed by an idiot. The only picture I took didn't come out.

But yes I did drool over it from a distance

Was it a replica of a 60's GT40, or was it the modern LHD recreation from Ford with the blown 5.4?

What do you mean "Judging by the doors"??
Its simple. if it was left hand drive, its the "new"" Ford GT.
If its right hand drive, its a rep.

If the Fuel tank set-up was like you said it was an old one made by Roaring 40's and i think i remember one of there display cars with those plates at a show i went to.

If it was the "new" one - good and well, fantastic machine they are, but the replicas, especially Roaring Forties, are almost as good as the real things!!!!

I do understand that, and in performance-wise and real buzz factor you can't beat the real thing, but in terms of attention to detail, a Roaring Forties GT40, is the best when the real one can't be had.

Thanks Tornado,

That is the very one I saw. I thought it was a new one as I saw one previously on Top Gear and I thought the new ones had the door partially form part of the roof.

The throttlebodys and GT40 badge give it away, a new one would be badged "GT" only and would have a supercharger sitting where the throttelbodys are.

I have no idea weather it was a new one or a replica. It definitely was the one in the pictures that Tornado posted.

So what ever it is it is, but I was excited and I think it looked fantastic.
