Personally, I don’t rate any proprietary used car or inspection warranty.

There will be conflicting stories, but my perspective is you’re better off with a cash buffer in your pocket and an open mind to the reality of anyone either missing a detail or failing to disclose. Always budget for tyres, wiper blades, full service with OEM grade parts, and a battery.

Pretty much this, even cars which come with RWC, I've never had a proper RWC done on any of my ****boxes I've just taken them to the right place when I've bought cars and needed an RWC to register them for my own uses.

Given you're spending up to $20K, if you want to buy interstate, hop on a plane and drive some cars yourself in Melbourne and spend a day or two in a cheap motel if you're going to buy a car from here, I wouldn't trust any RWC or 'inspection' when you're talking that kinda coin.

Although I trusted the member here (forgotten who now ) I was more nervous than when I got married.

2012 - 2018, if you look at them make sure you get the variant your after. We looked at one being sold as a 2.5L 6psd, but was a 2.0L with CVT being misrepresented.

At present on looks alone I am leaning to the
Mitsi Outlander and Ford Mondeo Ambiente MD Auto both very different but could be swayed by a Rav

Mondeo's are a great vehicle no doubt but also scarce on the ground and no longer available new which means parts can and will get harder to source.
Living in the country with a high probability of animal strikes would lean me away from vehicles that may be hard to repair should it become a reality.

Drive the Outlander you can get for under $20k and the Rav you can get for the same coin back to back and the answer will become clear.
We had a 2013 Outlander, reliable no doubt but gutless unless you wring its neck due to the CVT transmission and ended up giving it to my Wife's parents after only a few months of ownership, they still have it and with 170,000km's on the clock now it has been very reliable and cheap to run.

My Mum had an 04 Rav with 150,000km's on it when she sold it recently which again was bullet proof and cheap to run.
After driving my mum's Rav numerous times my mother inlaw commented that it was a much better drive despite being a decade older.

You wont get any mid size SUV in that price range that is as easy for parts and servicing as a Rav, they are as common as a Ranger and regularly feature in the top 5 cars sold each month for a reason.
