Default 'New' AU Pursuit ute - What'll it bring?

Well here's one you don't see every day!

What do you reckon the final bid will be?

I'm calling 60k. Such a shame to see that it was stored so badly. Also a shame the owner never enjoyed it and kept it nice. It'll cost a lot of $ to get it back to looking new again, especially the engine bay, it's putrid.

Must have been for the love of it because it's a terrible financial investment.

Anything rubber on that thing would have well and truly deteriorated, it's going to **** out water and oil from everywhere - will need a good going over on the hoist before you take it for a drive.

Plus a set of new tyres, the first time you get on the brakes it's going to be a pedal to the floor job I reckon

I'll start the bidding at $500

You'd also have to be real careful trying to start it. I think it would be an engine out job to replace everything. Finding NOS hoses and all the factory visual rubber bits will be impossible. This thing either needs to be bought by a museum and clean it up for presentation and roll it everywhere or someone with loads of spare cash and time. I bet the adhesive plastic on the front bar has also ruined the paint under it.

Such a shame to see such a good car like that, never enjoyed.

Well you have outbid me already , I have never warmed to the look of the AU, it was an out there designed front when first introduced and I think it still is.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, Im sure there are some cashed up lovers of the AU styling that will bid it to more than what its actually worth as what happens with these auctions.

Might see it pop up on 1 of those classic for a cause sites after its sold?

It's probably not one for our types that's for sure, it's going to be a right ****show to chase up all the parts and do the work on your back in the driveway.

I agree, if I was one of the engineers who worked on designing the car I'd be very upset people aren't driving them and mothballing them in a garage, it's not art, it's designed to be driven and enjoyed for what it is.

Don't know why you would buy a car just to never drive it. It's like having a girlfriend you don't bang cause you don't want to wear it out.

Just makes zero sense in any regard.

It might be the old story of the Phase 3, sold after 20+ years of storage. New owner hops in, starts it up and destroys the engine.

I’d be happy with owning it, including a minimalist schedule of running preservation and modest amounts of driving for pleasure.

Needs a tray on it, then it might be useful and fun in the wet.

Time capsule... remember looking at an AU XR8 at the dealership when they were new. Bit of movement in the southern pipeline

Thanks guys. I checked it a few days ago and then forgot to check back for the close of the auction today. I ended up being way off the mark. Was expecting 75-80k.

Still up for sale again at Llyds, obviously the owner is after big $ and wasn't happy with 60k. I thought 60k was good.

Yep, $60K is above odds for that thing I reckon, especially given what a right **** show its going to be to get moving.
