I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem before?
My clutch pedal (when released) sits approx 2 inches higher than my brake pedal. I also had this problem when i had the clutch replaced in my ED XR6 (when i had it) Ford are suspecting a bent clutch fork or a issue with the preasure plate. But want approx $500 just to pull the box out with no gaurantee that they will be able to fix it. Does any one have any ideas? It is a new PBR XR6 Clutch kit. |

First thing to check is for a broken or missing clutch pedal spring. It is positioned from the firewall to the pedal and holds some pressure on the clutch to stop it one, vibrating, and two, rising all the way up like you've described yours to be. It is a 50c item from Ford spares .. OK, that might be an exaggeration, you can't get anything for 50c eh?
Anyway it is way cheaper than a R&R gearbox and new clutch or fork ... Last edited by T3man; 22-02-2005 at 05:54 PM. |

Thanks T3man, The spring is not there but there is no way a spring is going to pull that pedal down 2 inches. Where abouts does it clip onto on the firewall? I can not find anywhere it would go. I see the spot on the pedal but not on the firewall.

Kirky the AU have a cable clutch. turn the nut on the firewall anticlockwise two turns, that will lower the pedal.....Hope this helps......

Sounds like your not getting the full travel on the pedel, they do crack around the firewall, that might be why your not getting full travel.....

I have only just converted it to manual so I dont think the firewall is cracked as it was like it the second everything was hooked up. But thanks for your suggestions Sbutler.
