Default Cleaning Leather steering wheel

Hi everyone,

I own an NL Fairlane Ghia with a factory fitted leather steering wheel in grey.

I have noticed a build up of white specs on the surface of the wheel - how do I get them off?

I have worked out its not paint - but from a white peppermint wrapper.

I have tried leather cleaner in paste and foam cleaner, but no results.

Can't see the spots, bad pics!, If they are a build up on your steering wheel I would use a knife and VERY carefully scrape them off, hold the blade at 90o (square) to the wheel, so you don't cut into the leather, try to scrape them off then try to cut them off.

I use a product called "Dubbin" on my steering wheel. It's used for leather shoes and sports equipment and as a conditioner.

In cases like that I have used the old duct tape. The heavy duty cloth one, just fold a piece around your hand with the sticky side out and dab at the wheel. All that stuff will stick to the tape and come off clean. Once you have done that clean the wheel with a good quality leather cleaner and should come up like new.

I've never tried that but you can try it, It won't hurt. Basically all you want is something sticky that all those small pieces can get stuck on and be pulled out.

Thanks for that. I gave it a go and the wheel came up trumps - I placed strips of the tape over sections of the wheel rim, and rubbed over it to remove air bubbles, gave it a few seconds and that worked best.

It was like giving my wheel a "Brazilian Wax" LOL

Then I rubbed some Megaruis leather cleaner over it.
