Default The Gumball Rally

Anyone seen the original movie? If you want to see a genuine 427 Shelby Cobra thrashed hard, see it! Made me firm!

If I ever win tatts, there'll be a twin turbo Super Pursuit in the next Gumball!

Not sure if it's yearly or bi-annual. Location moves every time. The movie was made in 1976.

The present day Gumball is unlike the movie one- most of them took place in Europe due to lesser issues with infringements and tighter laws....it was also done in the U.S a couple of years back.
I had an aquaintence who raced Maranello's in the Euro Gumball a few years ago for a well known aristocratic banking family- lost one of the on the way and lots of bribe paying to law enforcers etc!

From memory back in 200/01 ish, someone was killed by a Porsche finishing the race at Beulieu Motor Museum (also home of the Mad Max car) and this put a big damper on the event. I have a slightly fuzzy memory of that particular period unfortunately!

Like that bloke that killed himself in a Ferrari in the Cannonball run in Aus some years back. Buggers it for everyone.

There was a Bugatti Veyron in the last Gumball. Heaps of gumball videos on you tube.

Yep, but I believe that the bloke killed at beulieu was a drunken reveller rather than the driver of the car.....he was hit by in on the driveway up to the building.
The Jackass crew did the Gumball Europe either the same year that our mate did it or the following year.

There was a old couple who were killed last year in the Ukrane. Hit headon by a Porsche competing in the Gumball. They stopped the event. The driver tried to do a runner, but was caught.
I do not see it lasting much longer as the cops get sick of it. Apparently the world record speeding ticket was handed out in 2005 for a Koingsiegg (sp?) CCR who was clocked at 242mph in a 55mph zone.

I have it on dvd (bargain bin special), they run the Cobra down the rivers in LA (which also featured on the new Gone in 60 Sec amongst many others), there is also a Ferrari Daytona convertible, Porsche, hotted up Camaro etc

Not that I like being pedantic, but that Jap guy didn't ruin the cannonball, Clare Martin did by introducing speed limits in the NT open road network. Stupid woman!!! ( her, not you )

Good point. But there is hope, a little known fact is that there still some roads in Northern WA with open limits as you can see.

Also, check out the scene where the Cobra and the Daytona come out of the Aquaduct. They both nail it hard and the Cobra rapes that Ferrari! Long live the Ford V8! :evil3:

Just because the sign is there doesn't mean it is de-restricted, where i used to live in Wa had old no speed limits signs everwhere, but the speed limit was 110Km/h, was a shame as they were some pretty fun roads too.

If that's true i've been pretty lucky then! The cops there don't seem to care though as long as you keep it under 150 or so! Where did you used to live?
