Default Rodeo no more

http://www.goauto.com.au/mellor/mell...2574020014B967

Isuzu now have the rights to the Rodeo name, due to GM selling off their share of Isuzu, so Holden now have to find a new name for it, and might have to source it from Brazil, which will increase the price because previous Thai built versions were tariff free.

To add to this Isuzu will now sell a near identical version here as the Isuzu Rodeo. Hows that for a slap in the face.

The Rodeo is miles behind the other players in the 4x4 Ute market anyway, no loss imo.

I traded my 03' V6 Rodeo when the fuel prices surged as it used 19 litres per 100k.

My 06 model is far superior in handling to the older 3.2 V6 model...
Glade I don't pay for its fuel.. Though other petrol trucks are not exactly fuel efficiant also.. The 3 ltr turbo diesel is a nice piece in Toyota, Rodeo, Nissan...

Pigs arsse mate. If you want a real farm hack, check out the new Cab/chassis offering from Toyota. 1984's technology and nothing new, read ABSOLUTELY nothing new since then except for a new engine. Oh yeah,,, and about 60 odd thousand dollars.

no big loss really, but now..does that leave Holden basically without a one tonne ute?

as without the Rodeo name, they'd basically have to start all over again.

GM HOLDEN will retire its popular Rodeo nameplate within months because it does not own the right to continue to use it.

It's all due to GM selling their remaining share in Isuzu, and Isuzu are preventing Holden from using it.

Also:
Rodeo will be renamed Colorado from mid-year
Colorado to be imported from Brazil from 2010
Isuzu to enter Aus market with D-Max (Rodeo) ute soon
Isuzu Australia to shack up with Mitsubishi
D-Max to compete head-to-head with Colorado

^^^^^^

I think he was referring to the Hilux.

And If I was buying a Lux, I would want the 84.

Nope, think he was referring to the 70 series which design hasn't changed since 84 (just made look newer.)

But, it's an ancient car.... so crap... (this is what you're saying, not me) yet every Toyota dealer has a back order of people dying to get behind the wheel of them. Go figure.

Yep got confused, I thought we were still talking about light 4WD ute's.

And what I meant was, why would I hand over 60k for a brand new 4WD that I will ultimately give a thrashing too. I'm better off getting the ancient bucket. Horses for sourses really.

And as for sales of them I'll bet about 75% are sold as fleet or to farmers.

No biggy here.

Gm selling off their share of isuzu may be a win/lose situation. In Thailand Isuzu out sells Toyotas or any other car maker when it comes to SUV's, trucks are right up there too and alot of neighbouring countries in the same region would be similar.

Holden will still use the same car for the time being, just not the Rodeo name. Isuzu will also be exporting it here, so it will be in competition with the Holden Colorado.

my old man drives it for work and the 3.5 litre v6 was a thirsty bugger,
but his new rodeo with the 3.6 engine from the commodore is alot more fuel efficient, but the handling is pretty muchs similar between the two.

the 3.6 may go better in them, but it sounds even worse at high revs than the commodore because the noise reflects off the ground lol....

and you think the 3.2 and 3.5 v6's are thirsty, try driving the 2.4, it's gutless and thirstly
