So as we know I opted for a camry over a Ford, I know kill me. However I have been thinking of making my camry something unique without going all ricer. You just don't see camry's modified as it is predominantly an old peoples style car.
I am thinking of sourcing this kit. The rims, lowering it, maybe a lip rather than the full spoiler and have been looking over some different style head and tail lights. Also had a quote on $300 to build a 2 1/2" Sports system (no one makes them, no surprises) and a set of headers about $550 but again they only seem to do them in 4cyl not the V6 but he is looking. So what do you think. Should I attempt this venture. It seems all the kits available are in the U.S. I am pretty certain in this kit it is very minor touches on the standard sportivo kit. There was another but it was too ricey, although the bumper was full with o hole cut out for exhaust. |

Any car*, regardless of its make can be made to be a good looking car with the right modifications.
It only become rice, when the modifications are pointless and of bad taste... Ie, stickers, neons, massive wings, 5" cannon exhausts, altezza lights etc... If you take the Camry, add a tasteful subtle bodykit like the one in the pics above, with nice wheels, dark tint and lowered suspension it'll look fantastic. The hardest part will be giving it some go to match the looks. *Any car within reason... Ssangyongs for example

Looks sweet man, go for it. Who gives a stuff what other people think, it's your car
The Camry's are a nice solid car, the V6's are tough as nails (look at the million KM Avalon Taxi's), nice and comfy car too. Love the rim and kit choice too |

And seeing the way the aussie dollar is, if you could find a NOS kit in the states, its worth a shot. They stopped making them in around '06.

Wasn't the Aus TRD supercharger developed with Harrop?
In America you could get convertible 2 door Camrys a few years ago. And TRD America had supercharger kits for them as well as suspension fiddles. |

Why bother? your not exactly gonna gain anything from it.
At the end of the day its still a Camry, save the cash and spend it on something more interesting/exciting would be my vote.

Looks good, source the s/c kit, re-upholster in leather, tasteful audio and a not too droney exhaust will set you apart and make you unique. It's your car, stuff what the masses say look out for number one cos no one else will.

Well I don't think you're mad as such. Just a little misguided. The newer camrys have a fair bit of go, don't look too bad and are a very comfortable and reliable car. Only problems are that they understeer like a bastard when pushed hard, have bugger all in the way of performance aftermarket gear, and are most commonly purchased by boring old geezers with mental health issues and middle aged public servants who've lost the will to live.
What I'm trying to say is that the camry has an image problem, but it's not a bad car. A nice bodykit, some nice wheels, a well designed exhaust as you've suggested, should be a bloody good start. I'm sure there are suspension places out there that could sort out some springs and shocks that'll get it feeling a bit less boatlike. If you get more adventurous, maybe even some boost? :p A camry isn't a death sentence. It aint a great starting point though. Good luck mate.

There is not much point making a camry go fast, so don't go too overboard on the "motor"...That kit looks tasefull, but the grill can be despensed. I'ld go for the first set of wheels, they look hot.
Don't worry about it being ricey...its a camry, so your gonna get ricer remarks anyway. Interestingly enough all the "ricer items" (neons, LED's lots of fiberglass add-ons etc) that people poke fun at, can be found on your late 70's-80's panel van... And panel vans were cool.

i reckon stay away from the spoked rims on a camry and go for a more solid spoke option like the ones in the first pic.
As for the bodykit i like the front lights and grill set up it looks pretty agressive but i still reckon the amont of lower bumper plastic is a bit borderline. The grills look good but im not sure bout the front lip/ splitter look needs to be more rounded off imo. and the rear of the side skirts isnt doing it for me either just keep it plain like how it starts at the front doors would look a lot cleaner and smooth. By the way you do know the average "camry dirver" reputation is slowly getting closer to the volvo driver?? lol jkn

At the end of the day it's what you decide. Personally I would not bother spending money on a less than mediocre vehicle just to be different.
