Default I luv my ford, but its not my daily driver

Im a big ford fan
i have an effy. i will shoot myselfwhen ford stops making the str8 six.

However my daily drive is an 04 Hundy accent i have owned since new. my little red hatch has been allover this country and im talking real nasty roads out past thargominda n stuff. She has never misseed a beat dispite the fact i never take her to the dealer n do all the servicing myself...

i goto say its a effin tuff little thing.

So does anyone else out there want to admit driving one of these or similar supposedly crappy cars, even though u luv fords??? i cant be the only one here...

Interestingly, all the Holden boys I know, do not drive Holdens. What's even more perculiar is that they seem to drive Toyotas. I know I cannot speak for the whole populace, but geez, if they love their Holdens so much why don't they drive them everyday...? Or even actually OWN one for that matter??

some people on here own smaller or more economical fords and drive them daily. some might have something else. or like you they have a good, cheap little hyundai to putt around in. i wouldn't be ashamed. personally, being able to run and maintain a little hyundai and an f100 is pretty good, i just run and maintain one xr6. and yes i drive it daily.

As per Sig The Daily is a 2007 Swift, a great little car. It took down P Plater in an auto VN commodore, mwwahahaha. It was the slow race to end all slow races..

Although its about to be up for sale, the missus will get another AU and I will sell the 'goon and drive the stroker daily

Guilty as charged, with a twist. The Festiva is a Korean Ford lol.

Bought it from new and looked after the mechanical side of things meticulously. Never scrimped on services, even thought to some it was trash on wheels. I looked after it, and it looked after me. It could always be trusted, was 100% reliable, cheap to run and easy to maintain.

It was still driving like new after 10 years and 200,000+ kays on the clock. The only mechanical part I changed was an alternator at 203,000km. It has been on 1000km road trips, dirt / 4X4 tracks (steep hills in reverse lol), snow trips etc. It would be a hard car to kill.

Had a small accident and it was deemed a write off. I now drive an 04 Citroen and I'm not happy to be honest. It thinks too much for me, will prob cost me a fortune come mechanical repair time and has been taken back under dealer warranty 3 times in 3 months.

Come next yr I'll probably sell it and go back to new Ford or Korean.

My 98 Lantra was the only new car I have ever owned that had no warranty work done, or no issues whatsoever. The most warranty work on the other hand was on my BA XR6. The Mini has had a cracked thermostat housing, but I broke the glovebox - although BMW replaced it (at $700 parts and labour) anyway. That was blood nice of them really. Lucky I made some pretty convincing umming and ahhing about maybe buying a 530 when I dropped it off. (maybe if I saved for 600 years....)

Yeah my little Hunday was nothing to look at, respecially with the naff Sportz stickers (which I told the dealer not to bother with), but that thing never missed a beat. Sold with 145K on it, and towards the end was doing mega country k's - enough to warrant the new XR6. Blew my mate away in his Ford Lynx too!

As a means of decent transport, I rated it.

Don't drive my NC as a daily either. My mortgage redraw is not that big yet. Sometimes I will take him for a cruise somewhere, maybe through the Park and down the Grand Pacific drive on a sunny Sunday, but usually it just has a big mother boat hanging off the towbar, the likes of which the Forester cowers at. That said the Forester can handle around town running, the Stockton dunes, and the mud out near Newnes far better than the NC could. The Mini, well the keys are generally found in my wife's handbag.

The funny thing is that after a brief affair with a Opel Corsa 1.3 CDTI around the Amalfi coast and back roads of Tuscany, I kind of fell for it a little....and was kind of hoping they would sell it here. Alas Holden prefers little Korean's it seems. Meh.

Agree 100%

Oh and yes you will be pleasantly suprised that the plan to replace the falcon 6 with the duratec have been binned.

some good points there. Also if you drive your beast to work everyday it is going to be vulnerable to the public for 8 hours every day while you are hard at work, have no idea it is being violated and nothing you can do about it.

Generally I only take my beasts out when I can control when I leave. So mostly the weekends.

My daily driver is crappier!

Its a Plain White 2003 Camry 4 cyl auto. nearly 800km out of a tank every week! It is the most boring car ever built. It has not got a soul. I call it the dishwasher. A very handy, efficient whitegood.

I've been hearing a lot of good things about Hyundai's new i30. I wouldn't personally get a Korean car, but my mum's excel which is 10 years old has only had one thing go wrong with it, which was the MAP sensor just out of warranty. Other than some of the clear coat peeling off the rear bar (probably more to do with her not keeping the paint in good nick because she's slack) it's still running beautifully.

My Daily is a 2.8 Diesel Patrol, Wife has a AU3 SR Wagon as a daily.

Would love to upgrade to a FG XR6 but i think that is a pipe dream at the moment.

My Neighbor did the right thing tho, he got a new Dash Green FG XR6 6 days ago. Sweet car.

I would love to have my other Fords as dailys but I am too afraid that other people can't drive and damage them so they are the weekend toys.

I drive a ED XR6 and the misses a AU XR8 ( soon to be my daily driver )
These cars leave the driveway at least twice a day each and NEVER fail.
I must say thoe that i think the hyundai's are good cars for the money bur i would NEVER OWN ONE AS LONG AS THERE ARE FALCONS! ;)
