Anyone who owns a LWB ford car would have received torment at one point or another about why they persist with such a big car or the grandpa jokes etc etc.
My mrs for one doesn't pull any punches with her taunts about my DL LTD. Then like a bolt of lightening in the car park I see this yank tank, it was wider, taller, longer than the DL LTD. It dwarfed my car and my mrs and I couldn't believe how big it was. I felt like I was driving a hyundai getz after that. What cars have you seen that dwarf our biggest offerings from ford? Pics if possible and a side by side would be even better. |

If you're talking about a old yank 4 door?
The only one that might come to mind is a 77 Lincoln Continental Mark V? |

Just about every American full-sized car from the 1970s will dwarf the LTD. The DL LTD is only slightly narrower than the almost dead Crown Victoria, however.

I went over to the states and had a ride in a escalade, those things are huge. I was in the front and there was about a 2 foot gap between the front seats and like a table in between. So I don't think a DL LTD or LWB ford made in aus is that big. |

thats because a DL LTD is just a typical taxi/family sedan with an extra 20cm tacked on...

Hmmm if the nose was pointy, it could've possibly been like daven said, a 60's/ 70's Electra
This is a 1970 one: Or maybe a 77' Oldsmobile 98? Or maybe a 60' Catalina? Or maybe a 66 Parisienne (Which seems almost as you described): Otherwise, iunno |

And yet it probably still has a narrower turning circle than the A380.

My 1968 Galaxie 500 (now in Deutchland). At one time I had myself and six other full grown men riding in that car. Check out the ute parked text to it! Thats big, son.

I love those massive, old American cars. I'd own one but I think it would cost to much to maintain.

I have no experience with the mechanical side of cars, so I couldn't do anything myself except change a tyre or change the oil.

When i went to the states, almost every car was massive, all pretty much v8s, loved it. i seriously came back and bought a nc2 fairlane the same week i got back. i now have a dl LTD. Id have a true yank tank if parts were more readilly available.

A P6 will dwarf a DL no probs!
Also the pricing for parts should not be a hindrance to buying a 60-early 70's barge from the states. Parts can be cheaper and much more readily available than most other cars sold here .... especially from the FORD & CHEV brigade as many parts were shared amongst all models. A 67 Mustang can be bought brand new from shell to engine if required. If you want a Galaxie or Impala etc ..... go for it!
