Ford Australia has reduced the manufacturer's list price (MLP) of the Focus range and added a manual transmission to the Ambiente sedan.
More details as they become available. Cheers Russ

That is nice..
Any reason for the drop? Is supply still a problem or can the Foucs start to give the Mazda 3/ Corrolla a run? |

Maybe, Ford has realised it cann;t price thier euros the same as Audi/BMW etc.Even though they are in now made in Thailand...
Buyers don't accept Ford has the same cred as Audi/BMW etc...Lets hope this sees a sales improvement...

Its time for Ford to be smart about their pricing (especially on models that come from Thailand)

What I mean is...Focus prices are good, until the Titanium model..then prices get silly, That should be around $29990 drive away, not $35k plus. Its competing against VW etc, as VW's Golf ad says "but its not a Golf " I know its beating the old drum, Ford..ADVERTISE !!!!!

Now that Ford Thai production is coming on full steam, manufacturing cost reductions can be passed onto Aussie buyers.
$49,000 for Titanium Mondeo is a bit over the fence don't you think? |

Good news. Puts Focus back on my shopping list. 5 speed sedan for wife for round town work is what we want, 1.6 not an issue.
Is it an admission that the 6 speed auto is an issue in the 1.6? |

At $40k drive away it makes it extremely affordable for a vast majority of the population. I don't see why a Focus Titanium needs to be anymore than about $33k-$35k driveaway.

Probally is, but, if the price is too low, it could effect Falcon sales?

Base model focus has for quite a while been a few grand less than the others in its category. Ford website basically has it at $18990 now ($19990 - $1000 cash back). Holden has normally followed the others in reducing cruze prices, but is now starting to lead the pack. Low to mid 2000 sales a month aren't enough for Holden. After all a $15000 wholesale car with only 40% local input at 2500 sales a month, only equates to $15 million of local activity a month. Even beleivers in the labour government would have issues with current bang they are getting for their cruze buck. Without stronger cruze sales, Holden will continue to force prices lower for small cars, to justify their existence.
Remember, they get government assistance based on how big a hole they dig themselves into, not how good they can run a company. |

That $15 million/mth local activity and $22 million/mth in imported parts generates around $62 million/mth in retail sales that is a huge plus for Holden instead of Korea. |

The Focus is a good little car, just needs a bit bigger base engine and a more livelier colour palette. I think what is hurting it is it's size, I think it could of grown a bit in size for this model - but thats probably not a bad thing for some buyers, some small cars are getting quite big.

1.6L is inadequate for the Focus, it really shouldn't be an option.
Its the same engine in the base WS Fiesta, which weighs probably 300kg less than the Focus. LW is certainly a crap load better than the previous LV when it comes to design and build quality though, the South African ones anyway, not sure about German XR5 as I've never been in one. |
